Prerequisite: TLPL664 or TLPL662; and permission of EDUC-Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership department. Or permission of instructor. Credit only granted for: EDCI735 or TLPL744. Formerly: EDCI735. Critically examine theories of second language acquisition and research in applied linguistics relevant to linguistically diverse students and learners of English as an additional language. Analysis of research from linguistic, psycholinguistic, sociolinguistic and sociocultural perspectives, with an emphasis on the social contexts of second language learning and teaching.
