Don't take her class if ur expecting it to be chill. First of all, she just takes points off assignments with no explanation at all. Also, she has zero consideration for students in her class. Multiple times throughout the semester she cancels class 10 minutes before it starts. Students already walked all the way to class. She doesn't care though. She cancels for some absurd reasons too like "its too hot"? If she is that physically unfit to walk in hot weather, that's concerning. At least send the cancellation email an hour before class. But no, i think she actually wants us to suffer and walk there first because why else would she consistently send out the email 10 minutes before class? Like damn, we're already sitting there. Not to mention she consistently shows up late to class. Multiple times she shows up 5-10 minutes late. Just goes to show how little consideration she has for her students. She is an incredibly nitpicky grader. Takes points off for the smallest details. She needs to understand that many people take this class for gen ed credit. Not everyone wants to go pages in depth about feminism and gender studies. I took this class prepared to put in the effort and work, but she expects too much and takes bunch of points off. Just like another review says, she takes points off because she doesn't "like the answer". Overall, this is one of the worst professors i ever had. please don't take the class if you need your gen ed requirement. take something else because this will just give you a headache. I promise you the good reviews are from those who are passionate about gender studies (which is fine). But if you are an average student who is just looking to fulfill your gen ed, don't take it. At least not with this inconsiderate professor

This class was a lot of work for an asynchronous class, but it wasn’t hard work. Stay on top of things, and take good notes to refer to later and it is an easy A. Final project and midterm will be easy if u keep up on readings. Nothing too hard, but I really was not interested in the content. Take it as an easy asynchronous gened but not for fun. Damien was communicative and nice, but since it was asynchronous, o never interacted with the prof face to face

i am in a reading-intensive major and have never had this much reading to do before. i expected this to be a lighter class because of past reviews...this class does not have a light workload. discussion boards, 3-8 readings a week of varying lengths, weekly quizzes, and later in the semester outside assignments/projects/papers. i also took this as an elective so it is out of my usual realm of study. however, i will say the professor is nice (this class was asynchronous), and the assignments were not too difficult to do; my issue was with the time commitment that comes along with the class. if you are not worried about that and are passionate about the course material, you will be fine

Incredible professor. Super knowledgeable about all the course content. He really cares about his students' success and comprehension. The course is not very demanding - weekly discussion boards, readings for each class, a midterm, and a final project. This is the MOST amazing class I have ever taken. Highly recommend the course and the content!!
