Professor Mosley is a great teacher and overall great person. He truly cares about his students and their education and creates a safe environment for learning. He encourages us to have tough discussions and to really reflect on why the discussion is difficult and/or uncomfortable. They give constructive feedback on all assignments. My only critique is that they grade a little more harsh than other undergrad professors but I know it is because they want their students to do better. Overall I really enjoyed the class and got a lot out of it! The workload can sometimes be a lot especially if you have other obligations outside of school but all the content covered was relevant and interesting.

WGSS302 with Dr. Mosley is my favorite class that I’ve ever taken at UMD. Dr. Mosley is a great professor who cares deeply about both the course material and student success. His office hours are incredibly accessible, he responds well to student feedback and adapted the course throughout the semester to better meet student needs and desires for the class. The workload is heavy but worth it — expect to spend hours reading and/or writing theory every week. There are 250-500 word essays due once a week for the first half of the semester, and then 1000-1500 word essays due every other week during the second half of the semester. The final project is an 8-10 page paper that you have ample time to complete. These essays are challenging and time intensive but allow you to genuinely engage with course material, teach you to think critically, and to develop your own opinions and theory. The essays are all intentional and achieve a particular goal within the course. The class is also largely discussion based — expect to show up fully for class discussion. You are graded on participation every day, but if you raise your hand you will have the opportunity to speak as long as time allows. There are also extra credit opportunities and opportunities to write explanations for how you participated in the class, which can help your participation grade if you aren’t comfortable speaking in a group. The course load and material make sense given that this is a class on theory. You will be expected and encouraged to rigorously engage with the course material and as a result you will learn so so much. The emphasis on discussion and engagement allowed my class to form a really beautiful learning community. This class is challenging, but that is because it is supposed to be. Dr. Mosley will push you to grow and learn, and he will challenge you, and it will be worth it. Come to the class and expecting to work hard. I cannot recommend it enough. This is coming from a WGSS major who loves theory, though, so definitely take the context of my review into account.

Dr. Mosley has noticably improved quite significantly as a professor and is much better at taking student feedback now. He is very passionate about the course material and genuinely wants to engage with all his students. He is quite young, which is nice in the sense that he can relate to students well; however, sometimes it is clear he doesn't have as much experience with teaching as other professors. But as I said, he is improving a lot and is willing to take feedback (so bring your ideas and criticisms to class/ office hours!) It is easy to learn a lot from him if you're willing to work with him.

Dr. Mosley is insightful, thoughtful, and adapts well to feedback. Frequently, assignment topics and due dates were influenced by students. His canvas page is super easy to navigate, which is a plus as well. I learned a lot from this course and had my own ideologies challenged. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher

I love Dr. Lewis! Her course materials are carefully curated, assignments are reasonable, and the class discussions she moderates are always on point. I would definitely take a class taught by her in the future.
