I had Adeyemi as my first English Professor at UMD and to say the class was a bit of a nightmare is an understatement. I personally found Adeyemi to be a bit scattered brain and I never felt like she fully knew what she was doing. There was plenty of times where what she would post on ELMS, such as due dates, assignments etc, and it would conflict with what she said in class. The class was constantly confused as to when things were truthfully due which caused a lot of conflict and tension in the class, and most the time Adeyami tried to make it seem like she wasn't really at fault. I've never had a class be so silent throughout the whole semester then what I did with this class and I feel that truly shows a reflection based off of how Adeyemi taught. She pretty must discouraged most questions we had and not to mention that she assigns a LOT of homework..and they're usually pretty lengthy! I'm currently taking two English classes this semester and I still feel like the work Adeyemi assigned each week is more than what my TWO English classes assign in a single week this semester. Really the only reason as to why I'm giving her two stars is because she can be a very flexible teacher. When I had a bad accident my fall semester she was extremely lenient with me in terms of getting assignments done and gave me plenty of time to get them in. Other than that though the class was just unorganized and hectic. I really would not recommend taking Adeyemi unless you plan on making your life harder than what it needs to be. I'm sure she means well overall, but I definitely do not think being a College Professor was cut out for her. |

Worst teacher I have ever had. Do not take. Discouraged questions, always had to be right no matter what, didn't help you succeed, and took forever to grade. When asked about grading and why she was three months late, she said "I am working at 3 colleges and managing a startup so you are going to have to be patient". But when she decided to move our 5 page essay deadline up to that current day and we questioned her, she simply told us " this is college guys get used to it" Do not take. |

Hands down the worst professor I have had at UMD- I have never felt more miserable in a class and I never imagined an easy gen ed could go so poorly. Adeyemi taught the writing class for health professions but she had no background in anything health-related so she never understood students' topics correctly and was incredibly reductive while discussing them. She also has a huge chip on her shoulder and responds aggressively to students who point out her (frequent) mistakes or disagree with her on any topic. She never admits to not knowing something or making a mistake, and she frequently frames herself as the victim when students speak up for themselves in class. Adeyemi doesn't have a plan or make any of her own materials so the lectures are entirely a waste of time. She doesn't always stick to the syllabus and is very unclear and inconsistent when outlining her expectations so it feels like her requirements for each project change by the day (and often over the course of a single class). She also doesn't grade ANYTHING during the semester so you get 0 feedback and she assigns grades really harshly after the semester ends. I truly do not know how she landed this position given her qualifications. It feels like to this day, she's faking it till she makes it but at this rate I don't think she'll ever make it. If you don't believe the reviews here then you can find her even worse reviews on ratemyprofessor at her old institution (Bellevue). Overall I'd say stay far far away from any classes taught by Adeyemi-- take the class a different semester if she is your only choice because I promise you she is not worth it. You will not learn anything, you will feel frustrated while trying to figure out what she wants, and you will probably walk away with a bad grade in a course where pretty much every other student gets an A. |

The class was not too difficult. However, Professor Adeyemi was a little unorganized with due dates. She was very sweet to select students, but other students noted that she was condescending. Additionally, I think the in-person classes were unproductive and could have been planned out better. |

Just a un helpful teacher. She discouraged questions, she had a lot of political bias during class discussion, and she acted like she was better than her students. Do not take this professor |

Bad teacher, thinks she is a saint and better than her students. Ignores the syllabus and doesn’t grade on time for feedback or essay improvement. DON’T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR |

Professor Adeyemi is a passionate and helpful instructor. Her feedback is detailed and has really improved my writing. The workload can be a bit much, but if you stay on top of it you’ll learn a lot. I’m expecting a B, and I feel like I’ve grown as a writer. |

Discouraged from asking questions. I’ve never had such an unhelpful teacher. If you have questions, go to the writing center instead because she will offer no assistance and make you feel bad for having one. |
