Dr. Alexander was a really good math professor, and I believe he taught the material of calc 2 really well! He was lenient in grading when needed, and was very accommodating when it came to homework attempts. He was on Piazza, not even lying, 24/7 to answer our questions. I like how he showed the proofs of the topics and I liked how he'd give a summary of topics before each quiz and exam. Highly recommend him if you're taking any course he teaches. |

Dr. Alexander is a solid math professor. He explains concepts well, gives you plenty of examples for everything, and gives you plenty of tries on the graded homeworks to get a 100. He responded to everything very quickly on Piazza. He also went over all of the quizzes in class and wrote up solution guides for the exams, giving you plenty of resources to study with and find where you need help. Regularly scheduled office hours can help those that are struggling. |

We had one of the higher avgs for the final exam. He gave us all the resources and help we needed to succeed. Great response time on piazza, will write us up answer keys, will spend hours grading and giving us points back on things we all lost points on, and spends time writing study guides |

He is a great professor and teaches the concepts well, however, he moves really fast and covers a lot of material in every lecture. This course relies more on applying the concept, not just memorizing formulas, which can be very difficult given the pace and difficultly of the course. However, he does hold office hours before every lecture and tries his best to explain the concepts in detail or work with you on the web-assign homework problems. I would recommend him as a professor, I would just encourage you to come in with some experience if you can, like reviewing the material before taking this course. |

He's extremely responsive! He will check piazza at least a few times a day and always provide thorough answers to your question no matter how big or small it is. He never shames you for the questions you ask. His tests were mostly fair, and he is the most fair grader I have come across. When most students messed up the same questions, he would give more points back. His averages are very high (B range) and his lowest grade was around the 50s. Teaching was okay, I think there were too many proofs and textbook like ways of explaining, but I think thats the case for most teachers. I would take him again. |

For the pandemic summer section of MATH241, over 8 weeks, there were 8 homeworks, 4 midterms, a matlab, and a final exam. One homework was due per week, and midterms were roughly every two weeks. Lectures were asynchronous recorded videos. The lecture videos are pretty good, and in a Khan Academy format. Midterms were open-note, open-book, open-lecture video, and we had 24 hours to work on them. The midterms were hard, but there's always time to go back and learn how to do a question you're stuck on. Homeworks were also hard, but he is very accessible in answering questions (I'm talking "responds to your 9pm 'am I doing this right' often in less than 20 minutes" accessible) and the feedback is very helpful in improving your understanding. The matlab is pretty easy as long as you follow the guide and ask for help when needed, even if you have no coding experience. |
