This class is an easy A, but it’s hard to feel like you're learning anything about engineering ethics. Christine is a very nice person but we’ve barely touched on any actual engineering; we've done maybe 3 or 4 brief case studies. Instead of learning anything engineering ethics related, most of the class feels like a DEI workshop HR forces you to attend once a year, and the discussions rarely go beyond surface level social issues rather than actual ethical dilemmas engineers face. The workload is also deceiving. For a class that’s mostly just busywork, it takes up a surprising amount of time - almost 4 hours a week in lectures and labs, plus about 1-2 hours of outside work. Assignments are vague, repetitive, and often feel like exercises you’d find in an elementary school classroom (draw how you feel, select your emotions from an emotions wheel, sketch an object, etc.). Role-playing and ‘object interviews’ don’t exactly scream engineering ethics either. The bottom line is if you’re just here for the gen ed credit, you’ll get it but don’t expect to gain any knowledge on engineering ethics. Put in minimal effort, follow instructions, and it's a free A but you'll definitely feel like you’re wasting your time.

Christine is a super nice person, and it's clear that she tries very hard. She puts in effort to learn everyone's name, and it seems like she is really passionate about teaching. The class did get annoying at times because there was way too much to do out of class, but it was all completion so not too draining, just busywork. Overall, I would recommend taking Christine if you have to take this class, but I wouldn't recommend taking the class if you aren't an engineering major or if you aren't very passionate about ethics.

Christine is a very nice person and this class is incredibly easy, but don't expect to actually learn anything here. The assignments are there for the sake of giving you something to do and I don't think I ever learned a single thing about engineering ethics throughout this entire semester. A lot of the work is annoying, time consuming, and the instructions can be very vague and often times are confusing because they sound kind of stupid. There are two weekly assignments that are due before the start of class which can take around an hour or two to complete if you are trying to at least write coherently. There were several times that we had to read a case study about an ethical issue that some company or someone faced that was actually pretty interesting and would make you think that you were going to do something interesting with the read. Only for the assignment to end up being "draw a sketch of the inside of your car," which again, is extremely easy, but if this is supposed to be a class about ethics I would expect to be talking about ethics and not doing some work that I'd expect from a 4th graders' homework. There's a lot of missed potential in this class that could've become engaging and useful but it just turned into a class that I cared little about and breezed through the work. Occasionally we had to roleplay in class which was entertaining and once again easy, but I never understood what the roleplays had to do with ethics. It just felt like she was trying to get us out of our comfort zone by making us act out little plays but there was nothing to learn from them. The lab for this class is basically just a discussion where we talked about a lot of the stuff we did in class and depending on who your TA is, that can be a little more engaging at least. Conclusion: It's an easy A, nice professor, extremely annoying and time consuming work, you wont learn anything, but at least you wont fail.

Christine is incredibly nice and accommodating person. She does seem to really to care about her students as she even goes as far as trying to learn everyone's names (there's like 50 people in the class too). If you need more time or help on an assignment, she will bend over backwards to help. I don't know why so many people are giving her shit for the class content. It's the curriculum that she is forced to teach. Some of the overall content is actually pretty interesting too. For example, the class goes over some interesting case studies of engineering gone wrong, such as the challenger explosion or Boeing 737 max disaster. Some of in class activities and assignments are kind of silly though, and there are a lot of them. However, everything is literally just a completion grade and all you have to is show up and participate. Just go into the class with an open mind and try to have fun with it. It is an ethics class Afterall.

Christine is very sweet and accommodating! The class can be a lot of work, but honestly, if you just do the assignments, you're basically guaranteed to get an A. I'm a bit confused about all of these reviews as a lot of the curriculum for her class, while it may seem childish, is literally required curriculum for her to teach (aka it isn't her fault).

The Class Is Easy, and Christine is a nice person. But her class is pretty terrible. Pros: There are virtually no grades. Put some mild effort into the (very simple) assignments and paper and as long as it's coherent you'll be fine. The TAs are usually on your side and will help you with whatever you need. Cons: Pretty much everything already said. This class felt like elementary school. We did "fun" activities such as "pretend to talk to inanimate objects around the room at different distances", "walk around the room impersonating words", and "diagram a person flipping a light switch." Required attendance (bc why else would anyone attend). My biggest gripe is that some of the info seemed very biased based on her views on politics, society, etc. Overall: easy gen ed just show up and write what she'd want to hear and you'll be fine but otherwise this is a waste of your tuition and brain cells

Christine is a great professor as she is super nice and helpful. However, the class itself is hit or miss. Let me start with the pros: The contract grading system is really nice. It is basically completion grades for hard work and reasonable answers, so it’s an easy A. The TAs are really nice and chill This class satisfies both humanities and I-series for Gen Ed credit Cons: There is way too much homework. Every week, there is at least 3+ hours of homework (2 pre-lecture assignments and a weekend assignment). While homework is obviously important, some of the assignments feel unnecessary or can be much shorter. This is a Gen Ed class and shouldn’t have as much work as major requirements. There is a lot of busy work. The week reflection assignments don’t need to be 500 words and the final reflection seemed unnecessary given that we already had the final ethical analysis paper due that same week. In short, this class is not for everyone. Some people will enjoy the class and all the activities while others won’t. Though if you need to satisfy Gen Ed requirements, this class is a fine choice. It’s an easy A but just beware of the workload.

If your main goal is to be in a class with disarray, lengthy and extremely childish activities, as well as being talked to like an elementary schooler then this is a great class for you. I will be honest and say that this class is good in terms of its grading scheme in which it is completion, but it gives next to no wiggle room or understanding for extenuating circumstances apart from for attendance. If you are taking this class for any reason other than it being required for you, I strongly urge you not to, or at least to not take Christine. it is somewhat amusing to look at while not remembering that you are also graded for engagement, at which point you realize that you are paying hundreds to thousands of dollars this semester to be forced to make bird calls or dance during an engineering course. You have several assignments required every week, required attendance, required reading/listening/watching every week amounting to hours outside of the class and no time in class to complete any of it. so for this reason, if you have a lot on your plate this semester maybe don't take it. enough with the cons, here's the pro's of taking the class / Christine: - easy to get an A if you dedicate a lot of time to the course and don't forget anything. - it's essentially a sociology class so if that's your thing just know if you don't get into any sociology classes, you can settle for this one. - you don't have to take any notes, there's no exams. just remember generally what was discussed in each class.
