One of the best teachers I have ever had. He is super kind and genuinely cares about his students and their understanding and success within the material and not simply just churning out a gradable product. He was super understanding and gave us time when we needed it and doesn't take off points for late turn ins if you talk to him about an extension. He has a lot of interesting thoughts and just wants people to talk in his class. We spent the entire semester working towards this one research essay and project and the majority of the classwork was answering discussion questions aimed at helping us develop and get deeper into our topic. I'd take his class again. |

Absolutely homie of a guy. Literally the chillest professor ever, and he is always willing to understand students who need an extension. He's super fun to be around, and he's definitely there to help if you need it. He grades based on effort and makes classes so much easier than the original curriculum which is amazing. Heads up, Baker is a very free-flow professor so there is very minimal structure in assignments and work. You may struggle a bit if you're someone who needs a hardcore format of what to do because he's pretty wishy-washy about instructions. Just make sure to ask him to clarify what exactly is the A+ rubric and you'll be totally fine. Amazing teacher overall and his classes are super exciting to attend! |

Mr. Baker is an amazing teacher. I honestly appreciate him so much and he made my semester so much better. I tend to skip classes because I find lectures much harder to understand and I visualize most of the stuff that I want to learn. Mr. Baker accommodates to everyone and I actually never skipped any of his classes. He's super kind and he genuinely cares for his students so much. I plan to try and be his TA next semester because of how much I enjoyed learning with him. I absolutely recommend taking any of his classes (I promise you'll enjoy it). |

Professor Baker was amazing! He was a great teacher I learned a lot. He also truly cares about his students and builds a bond with you. The first half the semester was no homework and just in class discussions. Second half we had more work but I never found it too much. He is very accommodating with due dates and would push back assignments if you asked. Overall 100% take his class he is fantastic. |

Professor Baker is an awesome instructor who genuinely cares about his students growth, both as poets and individuals. In class, you’ll usually go over readings, share thoughts, and create writing material that'll help with your workshop poems. Every few weeks, you get a week off to focus on your workshop poem and have a one-on-one conference with him. The course also includes writing four essays that analyze works by other writers/poets, which really helps you see and understand different concepts of poetry. For the final, you just put together a portfolio of the poems you’ve written throughout the semester, along with a letter explaining your revision process. I've grown so much as a poet and gained confidence in my voice, especially from sharing my poems in workshops with the class and hearing their feedback. I've seen my classmates grow too, which says a lot about Professor Baker’s dedication. If I had the chance to take another class with him, I absolutely would! |

Mr. Baker is an incredibly caring and supportive professor. He's super laid back and makes ENG101 as enjoyable as it can be. I've heard that other professors can be really tough graders, but Mr. Baker definitely isn't. As long as you turn in your work and generally follow the rubric, he'll give you a 100%. He'll also work with you if you need extensions and is very understanding. Definitely take him for ENGL101, he's the GOAT. |

I took ENGL271 on a whim just for an easy credit but he made me actually like the course a lot! I'm by no means a poet/writer, but he really emphasized how writing is completely for yourself and really gave me a lot of confidence in the class. He also gave helpful feedback and really listened to his students. None of the readings are required but they're honestly pretty fun to look at. Overall, highly recommend. He's a super chill guy and fun to talk to! |

I'm a horrible writer and absolutely hate English but TRUST ME... Professor Baker is the best. Really really easy grader (you will get an A as long as you do the work and follow the rubric). Super chill guy and sometimes he even brought us coffee. Really understanding person who genuinely wants everyone to succeed. Would highly recommend him over any other ENGL101 professor. I've heard the other ones aren't great but Professor Baker is the GOAT |

Great TA, like actually the best. He's so chill and helped us a lot when we had a pop quiz or assignment he knew we didn't want to do. Really easy grader if you follow the rubric to assignments, HIGHLY reccomend. (He also always brought us coffee to discussion) |

Most chill guy I have ever met and is willing to meet the amount of energy you are willing to put into the class. If you are taking it for a Gen ed, he will basically ask for your class time, and if you are actually looking to improve your writing, you will make great strides |

Really chill and relaxed professor who knows how to light conversations about the material and subject when everyone is drained of energy. He has essentially unlimited information for people who are looking to improve their writing and fiction. If poetry and writing is your thing, then you should definitely take this class. If it isn't, you should give it a try, because he is very accommodating to the skeptics/those without the same energy. |
