I took The Civil Rights Movement with her and it is safe to say she was not the best professor. For one, her exams are incredibly awful in terms of structure and logistics. You are given about an hour to complete ridiculously long exams that should have had less questions or allocated more time. The questions were IDs, short essays, and a long essay at the end. Not only that, but you had to submit the exam on time meaning that you had even less time to finish the exam because you needed to spare a few minutes to submitting it onto canvas. Even if you managed to get the exam in, you're unlikely to get a good grade from it. Why? She's an *extremely* strict grader. Even if you wrote a massive paragraph for the ID questions, you'll still lose points because she's expecting for absolutely everything imaginable to be written on that specific ID. Beyond the exams, she require attendance and participation because it is all graded. Her assignments are a bit annoying too, and her final project was ridiculous. You needed to physically go to a museum in D.C. and head to all of the specified exhibits. Your final project will likely be 20+ pages by the time you're done. Good luck with this class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! She is a very nice person, but an awful professor. There are 3 exams in this class and she makes them so long and difficult. She does not give students enough time to get through the whole test, and almost no one finished all 3 exams. All of the assignments are extremely tedious and require reading 30-40-page articles and essays. There were also several major assignments that required an absurd amount of writing. Her grading is awful, and she nitpicks about the smallest details which will cause you to do poorly. She is incredibly unresponsive to emails, and by the end of the semester, there were 19 assignments that she never graded dating all the way back to the beginning of February. If you're looking for an easy A Zoom class, this is not it.

Please avoid taking this class. I am only estimating that I have a B- based on about half of the assignments being graded and our final was this morning... The exams are ridiculously tedious and long for the time allowed, and I just think she expects way too much for an online class. She also requires us to complete weekly self participation assesments for points, yet will give you a different score if she doesn't think you participated enough after grading them weeks later?? Like she would remember how much each and every person participated in a specific class date..

I would give her a zero if I could. Her assignments are tedious and she is an insanely picky grader. Classes are also boring and she expects you to participate multiple times in every class to get full participation points which is just simply not realistic for a 35 person class. I would not take this class with her if you have another option.

I came in to this class so excited and passionate to learn about Black women's history, only for her to snuff it right out. Her assignments are just so tedious and you don't learn anything. On top of that, her lectures are so boring that I find myself almost falling asleep, and I am not one to fall asleep in class! She doesn't respond to emails, takes forever to grade your work, and don't even get me started on the tests. I'm giving this 2 stars because she's actually really sweet and really knows her stuff, but this just goes to show that just because you're knowledgable, doesn't mean you can teach. Avoid unless necessary!

She means well, but her class can be very boring. Many times I showed up to class and thought, "well that was pointless." She doesn't respond to emails, so you'll have to speak to her in person.
