Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 01/23/2025	Dr. Batts is seriously the nicest guy. I really enjoyed his class because I could tell he wanted his students to learn and created great activities for us to do so. He let us leave class early a lot and cancelled class when we had big assignments so we could use our time to work on them. The only negative is that the course load was a lot and I was constantly working on huge projects. All in all a good experience!
Anthony Batts ENGL101S Expecting an A Anonymous 12/23/2024	Dr. Batts was one of the best professors I had this semester. He is very understanding and makes the class interesting. Also, his lessons really give a clear idea for how the essays and other assignments should be written and provide many examples for different assignments. If you have the opportunity to have Professor Batts for English, then I would definitely recommend it.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/22/2024	Dr. Batts is very thorough and makes the instructions for assignments very clear. He is very chill and would often let us out of class early or give us occasional asynchronous classes to do work. However, I felt like he graded rather harshly. Despite consistently taking class notes, closely following the guidelines in the rubric, and turning in work that I had carefully crafted and proofread NUMEROUS times, he always gave me a 90%. He never gave feedback as to why I only got a 90%, even though the rubric reflected all A's most of the time. Due to the fact that he didn't give feedback I was never able to improve my papers and got 90%'s on each one. In general, he seemed like he rushed through the grading process of my papers and never gave me adequate feedback on how to improve my grade.
Anthony Batts ENGL101S Expecting an A Anonymous 12/03/2024	Dr.Batts is truly an amazing professor. You can tell that he is truly passionate about what he is teaching. He also goes into topics in great depth, that help with writing assignments. ENGL101 is a class with writing assignments, but Dr.Batts makes the class way easier to approach. As long as you put great effort into the major assignments, and engage in class, with other smaller assignments, you will be fine. If you are taking ENGL101, and get a chance, take Dr.Batts, no question about it.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 09/26/2024	He’s a very enthusiastic guy and truly enjoys the subject. Class isn’t easy but no matter what English is going to be a lot of work so having a passionate prof is nice. The only negative in my book is he does timed quizzes for homework which aren’t to difficult but requires you to do all the readings and have questions ChatGPT or other ways of cheating don’t rlly work with so make sure you lock in for those.
Anthony Batts ENGL234 Expecting an A jaylxn310 05/01/2024	Batts was a great professor. I took ENGL234 in Fall 23 which was cross-listed with AASP298. He was thoroughly enamored with the topic at hand and wanted all of our opinions and thoughts on the readings, topics, and made sure we all got to hear each other out and work together. Some of the readings (specifically WEB Dubois) were hella long and were hard to comprehend, but other than that, he was super accommodating and was always willing to help you out wherever you were stuck; if you needed more time, needed help starting out your paper or your homework, or just an ear to listen, he was there. He's compassionate and overall a really nice guy involved with his students. I'd love to have him again if the opportunity presented itself.
Anthony Batts CMLT235 Expecting an A Anonymous 01/16/2024	Solid professor. Stresses themes throughout the readings you do so you remember the key ideas even after taking the class. If you complete the readings on time and put effort into the 2 or 3 writing assignments throughout the semester you should get an A or high B.
Anthony Batts ENGL101S Expecting a B- Anonymous 01/04/2024	He graded a lot tougher than I thought he would, and I have always been a decent writer. However, he's chill and has a pretty easy going attitude.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/17/2023	No matter what professor you take, Engl101 is going to take a good amount of time because of all the writing thats required. Even though English is not my best subject, I believe that Dr. Batts graded my work fairly. Dr. Batts explains what is required for each big project through his lectures and by providing examples of past students work. Overall, if you follow what he says you should succeed in his class. I don't know how good the other Engl101 teachers are but if you see a section open for Dr. Batts I would recommend taking him.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 05/24/2023	Dr.Batts is a nice guy and you can tell he really enjoys teaching. He grades much harder than one would expect for English101, so you definitely cannot get away with bs-ing your work. That being said, he is so chill if you ask for help or ask for an extension. I definitely improved my writing and learned a lot

Anthony Batts ENGL393 Expecting an A Anonymous 01/25/2023	He was one of the most kindest and responsive professors I have ever had. He was always open to questions or concerns that I had throughout the entire semester. In these ways, he made the class much more enjoyable than it already was. Very reasonable grader, the course was designed such that it was easy to navigate and work, and the amount of detail he put into his assignments was absolutely amazing.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A Anonymous 11/29/2022	Batts is super chill and very organized. He often lets class out early which is also nice. -0.5 star for tougher grading for an ENGL101 course. -0.5 for strict(ish) attendance policy (only 2 unexcused absences for tues/thurs and 3 for MWF) Although if you email him with an excuse he is accommodating. If you take his class just make sure to come to class- final drafts are graded a bit harsher and took more work than expected. rough drafts and other assignments graded very nicely (i.e. completion). He's super approachable and usually answers emails in 24 hrs. All around a nice guy. Overall I'm glad I took his class. He's a really great teacher, I certainly learned a lot from him.

Anthony Batts ENGL101 Anonymous 01/11/2022	There are a few activities and feedback that I found to be unhelpful for my following assignments or personal improvement, but overall Batts provides reasonable grading and does his best to find what methods will help out the students the most. He would also frequently let us out early. Batts is nice and understanding, especially when you turn in some assignments late. The workload may be heavy at times, and you have to start at a reasonable pace. Despite this I can't find any other professor who would offer a lighter workload, especially when Batts slightly adjusted the requirements a couple of times for our benefit. Don't be afraid to reach out to him for clarification or help.
Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting an A- Anonymous 01/07/2022	Dr. Batts is a nice guy and an interesting person but he gave more assignments than necessary (they weren't hard but took time and there were like 2+ a week) and graded fairly. He's flexible on turning in assignments late and sometimes let us out early. Dr. Batts tried to get to know his students through 1 on 1 meetings and made lectures go by fast through different assignments and groupwork. However if you don't like writing you might want a professor who gives less work.

Anthony Batts ENGL101 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 12/16/2021	Pretty nice professor who is chill. Sometimes we get out early from class. You are allowed to skip 4 classes without losing credit which is nice. The lectures he gives are pretty helpful in terms of content. The only negative is that we do not receive very much feedback from our final projects other than a filled out rubric which makes it difficult to learn from our mistakes. Other than that, I would recommend this professor.
