This class is pretty boring. Professor loves to talk about himself but seems rather pretentious (he mentioned almost every week that he was looking for a publisher for his new novel). The class is extremely repetitive -- one day is devoted to reading a handful of student papers (but only the best ones, so no one that struggled gets to hear any constructive criticism), and the next day is devoted to maybe a quiz and going over initial research for the next week. You write a 500-800 word paper every week, and the only thing that changes is the topic. I don't think I learned very much from this class at all. There's also a midterm and a final that tests your ability to pay attention to the Washington Post and NY Times editorial pages and what was covered in class, but since the only time you apply that knowledge is on these arbitrary tests, it doesn't end up doing all that much. So, why not 1 star? It's a pretty easy A once you figure it out. |

I took this class for one day and dropped it. He is the most boring person I have ever met in my entire life. He spoke in monotone and just read us nine pages about his life story, which wasn't very interesting. Wow, you got married and had kids. And went to Harvard. Yay for you. |
