Lecture goes by fast so it can be hard to take notes but she posts the slides after, she likes what shes teaching and is very knowledgeable so she answers questions with her best ability. No midterms or final, bi-weekly quizzes on topics and theory application reports. The reason I gave this 3 stars is because of her grading. The median grade on the theory application reports is always 15/20, RARELY will you get above a 18. I've worked really hard on the quizzes (which are open note and self paced) and the TAR's but have yet to get a 20/20. Because her and her TA's are so picky, you cant keep an A. I got 3 points taken off because one sentence of my answer was relevant but too general. Professor is nice, lecture is just notes, overall a good class just very picky when it comes to grading. |

Professor Beets is awesome. I really enjoyed this class as I felt like every class I walked away with learning something new. I loved learning about misinformation, disinformation, deepfakes, and generative AI. This class has 2 exams, a final group project, and a weekly reading response due every Monday at 5 pm. The reading responses are basically summarizing key takeaways from the articles she gives us on Elms. For the group project, we would meet with our groups to discuss how to divide our parts for assignments that would lead us to the final group project at the end of the semester. The 2 exams might sound scary, but I promise you, it wasn't. Professor Beets did a great job getting us ready for these exams and there weren't any surprises or anything, it was pretty straightforward. I highly recommend this course as a Comm major myself. |

Professor Beets is awesome. I really enjoyed this class because she definitely made it easier. The content in this class is also interesting, and I felt like every class I walked away with learning something new. I enjoyed learning about misinformation, disinformation, and things like deepfakes and generative AI. There are 2 exams in this class, along with a group final project. There are also reading responses due every Monday at 5 pm, which summarize key takeaways from articles she provides. If you are comfortable taking 2 exams and also working in a group project, I highly recommend this class. The 2 exams, by the way, were straightforward. I did great on them because Professor Beets did a great job getting us ready. Again, I highly recommend this class. |
