Grant Bollmer
COMM449N Expecting an A+ Anonymous 12/20/2024 |
Professor Bollmer was an OK professor for COMM449N. For a COMM elective, I would recommend taking this course with him. He was a pretty good lecturer and the majority of the class was based on discussion. He did not really use slides and we didn't really need to take any notes. My biggest complaint is that there were no rubrics for anything and grading felt very much based on his opinion. It was hard to know what you were supposed to do since his directions were vague and you could only understand them if you listened to everyone's questions in the class about the assignments. But, overall the class was interesting and not hard. I also wish that Professor Bollmer would have made more of an effort to get to know student names in class with such a small class. What is good is that Professor Bollmer does have a good understanding of the internet, influencers, and social media culture which is not always the case when professors teach about social media. At the start of the semester, we chose an influencer to follow. We followed that influencer for the entire semester and completed 4 primary research assignments where we looked at the content the influencer creates, how the influencer makes money, the influencer's audience, and how they use different platforms. Then, we had a final paper/video focused on bringing together all of that research and making an argument. This is an overview of what you can expect! |
