Professor Bucher is a great guy with a passion for Latin and helping his students learn it. He does teach entirely online since he’s not currently local to College Park, but other than it being virtual I had a great experience with the course. Quizzes and exams were fair. Feedback on translations and assessments was fairly detailed. Overall, it was a great semester and I think that I learned a lot.

Very fun class. We learned about those all the wild laws Romans had, like the legal right to kill your children or the rule on whether you had to pay damages caused by your four-legged animals. Homework was reading a couple dozen cases a week and answering reading comprehension questions. Professor is a fair grader and great at explaining why and how the laws are the way they are once things start getting more complicated. I'd definitely recommend this class to anyone looking for an elective

Professor Bucher is a very cool professor. To put it in his terms, "I would definitely like to drink a beer with him." He takes every student's opinion and comments into account, even if he disagrees. He is a very intelligent professor in his field. Even if you are not a big fan of essay, I would recommend his class to anyone taking a Gen ED because you get to choose what your (three) essay topics are and the essay restrictions are loose.

I thought that Gregory Bucher was a good and respectful teacher. We had a read essays each class, some were more difficult than others but some were really interesting. You have to write 3 of your own essays, two reading responses, and one pitch essay. He is a decently tough grader but gives really good feedback so it is easier to do much better on second drafts. You have to talk each class but it isn't too bad.
