the work is relatively easy if you know what you're doing, and there wasn't an exam. the class was lowk skippable, but there is a 25-min final presentation at the end, so good luck on that |

The professor is also very nice and willing to provide students with office hours to answer their questions! Now, there two main pieces of feedback I would like to offer to help improve this course next time it's offered: 1) The beginning of the course needs to tailored moreso for people who don't understand finance at all. I came into the class with 0-experience in finance and no foreknowledge of the terms used even on the balance sheet. I didn't know both sides of an equation had to be equal in the end on a balance sheet. I eventually picked up on it, but because of my lack of knowledge, I felt if we had the first two or even three classes be elementary finance lessons, people like me would have a much easier time following the material. 2) The homework felt disjointed from the lecture material. I realize there is limited time and that the class probably cannot afford extra time to do this, but if some of the lecture time was partitioned to give students exercises to learn to do calculations on excel spreadsheets, there would be a better connection between lecture material and homework. On a side note, I believe if the professor and the TA also had helped students go through an example in office hours that was similar or related to the homework questions, students would have an easier time. Unfortunately, when I went to TA office hours once in the beginning of the semester, I was discouraged to keep going in the future because the TA simply told me to read the textbook and didn't offer much other advice. He answered the question, but to be told I simply needed to continue reading a textbook I didn't understand was very discouraging. |

This professor does a great job teaching BUFN630. The grading for the class consists of case studies, participation, a case study presentation and a final exam. The case studies can be a little tedious but they are mostly straightforward and if you have questions definitely go to office hours. For participation just show up to class and ask a question every once in awhile to get full credit. For the case study presentation you'll be assigned a group and present what you found from the case study. Even if your group doesn't do the entire case study properly you'll still get full credit for the presentation. Finally for the final it is extremely similar to the practice final. Overall Maria does a good job teaching the class and its mostly straightforward. |

Very friendly professor and really knowledgeable in her field. The course assignments were difficult but open to interpretation, so as long as there is some logic to the analysis, the grading was lenient. The professor explains well but talks really fast and doesn’t record her lectures, so its very important to pay attention to her explanations and to ask questions. She will answer a hundred questions a week and never get annoyed. She genuinely cares that you understand. |
