This course on the Economics of China taught me much about how a late-blooming country like China managed to claw its way back into the global limelight and become one of the most highly regarded economies of the modern era. The way that the material was presented, in slideshow format with frequent review questions and ample time for elaboration, allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects that I cared greatly about. It also helped me to cement the ideas presented in class in preparation for the exams. Regarding exams, the exams had questions taken practically straight from the slides/from in-class discussions. This made me feel that my time in the class was valued, and that coming to class actually made a meaningfully positive impact on my grade. Most importantly, however, was how the lectures were handled - I felt like Dr. Cai really cared about my understanding of the material, and taught about relevant, useful topics within the scope of Economics. Would take again, 11/10 class. |

I would definitely take this class again, there were no homework's, no quiz. It's extremely manageable and the professor is very kind and VERY fair grader. Attendance isn't even mandatory/graded. I slacked off a lot so I didn't get the A+ im sure anybody can get. Only 3 Exams(there is 4 but the lowest grade gets dropped). A presentation, and a 2 discussions(only time attendance is graded). |

If you are ECON Major take this class. 4 exam(drop the lowest grade) I only took 3 exam because I'm doing okay on them so I don't need to do the 4th exam. There is no quiz, no homework. the exam are 3 pages with 16 questions, about 13 of them are multiple choice and the professor goes over her slide before exam. She grade fast and very responsible for the class. She also upload slides on elms so if you don't want to take note just go through her slides and you will be fine. She is nice! very amazing professor here. |
