Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI433 Expecting an A Anonymous 03/11/2024	She is awful at teaching and during the tests she is constantly talking. Her slides are not helpful for the exams and she wants you to memorize the littlest thing that is irrelevant. Would not recommend at all.

Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI330 Expecting an A Anonymous 06/30/2023	She made Cell Bio my favorite class at UMD. I learned so much and I liked the flexibility granted from her posting lecture videos. It helped tremendously prior to exams. She is so sweet and cares about every student.. and if you need help just ask. The exams are more or less straightforward and I am usually not good at exams (my exams were 84, 86, 96, 97). Take her.. she is a blessing
Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI330 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 05/26/2023	Dr.Cantemir was a very good professor in my opinion. I thought her slides were great, and I was able to learn a lot by just looking at the slides multiple times. One thing I really liked was how I didn't need to refer to the book to understand things because her slides were very clear and she wasn't pulling exam questions from the book. Her exam questions are only what are covered in her slides, and she really does not throw curveballs or unexpected questions on the exams. She also had multiple extra credit opportunities that were a grade booster and she is very accommodating. Highly recommend you take her for this class.
Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI451 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 05/25/2023	Super nice lady. Lab was super interesting. Easy A+ as long as you do the lab reports. I lowkey got carried in the writing department though I took point on rat labs. Your TA is more important tbh. I had Matt. He's awesome.

Very frustrating to have a lab notebook, two presentations, and a quiz all due within the last two classes when there is so much going on at this time in terms of studying

Dr. Cantemir-Stone made the course very fair and taught us so much about cancer, while applying concepts that we've learned from other bio classes. You will learn so much, and the content is so interesting and important. If you have the opportunity to take 433 with Cantemir-Stone, please take it!!

Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI330 Expecting an A Anonymous 07/06/2022	BLESS HER SOUL!!! Honestly, this is one of the best professors I have EVER encountered. She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to do well. She gives fantastic feedback and is always willing to help. She is super understanding and treats students like actual human beings, which is rare in college. Taking a class with this professor is the best thing you can do for yourself. I wish she taught every subject because more people would actually learn stuff and graduate. Overall, amazing professor and human being!! This is not to say that this class is an easy A. You will need to put a lot of effort and energy into this class and actually try your best. Having her as a professor makes your life go more smoothly.

It truly shows how much she has a passion for teaching about cancer and how much she cares for us to do well. There are many extra credit opportunities and the exams are extremely fair if you are paying attention and understanding, nowhere does she try to trick you. She also provides so many resources to do well such as key concepts, practice exam and study guide. She is very approachable and it’s clear that if you have questions, she is happy to answer them. I highly recommend her for this class, you will learn so much, it is applicable to life, and very low stress.
Carmen Cantemir-Stone BSCI433 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 03/31/2022	After having her for multiple sections, I can say for sure that Dr. Cantemir is hands down one of the best instructors I have had at UMD. She is extremely well read on the topics she covers and is excellent at fielding questions and clarifying concepts. Class material is easily accessible with both zoom and in person options supported, however I highly recommend you attend lectures but the option is there just in case. Exams and what you should know for them is clearly laid out, with extra credit provided as opposed to curving. All in all, great instructor and great classes.
