I think Professor Cao is very good at research and I do not think he is a bad person. His exam questions are very similar to the practice questions. Those are the only good things I can say about him. He should not be teaching this class. The structure makes no sense. He will pull from random chapters in the textbook that have no connection to each other, and sometimes he will just teach something random not in the book. This class is supposed to be about assets, and 311 be about liabilities and equity. So why did we do bonds in this class? He never explained anything well or in a way that deepened by understanding of accounting. The TA sucked and gave me the wrong answers multiple times. He has no office hours. He makes you do presentations about his own research papers that are only worth like 2% of your grade. Overall there are four group projects (two excel and two presentations) and none of them are worth more than 3%. Exams are 80% of the grade. He makes getting an A+ IMPOSSIBLE (have to have a 99.5% in the class) and getting an A or A- harder than the normal grade standard. You have to have above a 90% to get an A- and above a 95 to get an A. Not worth the stress and definitely not worth the money I'm paying for an education.

Overall, not bad. Group assignment is easy work, solutions are provided, and it's mostly just practice for the topic. Regarding the exams, it's just the practice problems from the worksheets with different numbers and occasionally some problems from the slides. If you practice those you will be fine. Professor likes participation so be prepared to be called on in class. I don't think it's possible to get an A+ lol, I think the percentage cutoff was around 99%, yikes. But you can pass with a decent A-, maybe an A+ if you do really well.

The A & A- ranges are insane. I had a 94% and thought I was going to get an A, but when I checked the syllabus it said you needed like a 95% for an A. Overall, I do not have many complaints about this class. He has videos from the previous semesters that he makes you watch before going to class The videos can be all over the place sometimes, but you only really need to know the problems in there. The only homework he gave us is making us explain why each homework solution was correct which was just a waste of time tbh. You are also assigned into groups and there are about like 4 groups projects, but they are easy. Everyone got like a 100% on that. The exams are really similar to his practice questions, so mainly focus on those along with the slides when you are studying for his exams. His exams are also fill in the blanks rather than mc.

Great Professor! Just watch the videos and do the practice problems and you will have success. Exams are very similar to practice problems.

Took Prof Cao last semester. He was a great professor and really made accounting easy to understand. He was my first professor at Maryland and really made the whole experience alot better. Make sure to watch the videos before class and you will do well and learn alot of information. Gives large curves if the class does not do well, and has no curve balls on the exam.

AVOID. Exams are 80% of the final grade. There are absolutely no easy grade boosters and project that took hours was only worth 2% of final grade. He also gives an excel project where you need to use stuff you learned from 301.. He does curve the course but wow this was my worst nightmare. He said he expects you to spend 15 hours a week on the course.

Really good Professor. Asks for feedback frequently and actually listens to students. The exams are a big part of the class, but if you're ready, you'll be fine. He also makes videos on the class modules so we don't get bored reading the bulky textbook.

Sean is a good professor who really wants you to understand the content instead of just memorizing things. There are 3 exams worth about 30% each. There are other smaller projects but they're mostly participation. Really study hard for the exams and it shouldnt be too bad.
