He is a pretty good teacher. Sometimes class can be really fast-paced but as long as you come prepared it is not too hard to follow. The only thing I would say is that he is a pretty harsh grader, but honestly his points are fair. |

This was genuinely a great class. As a person who doesn't generally enjoy English that much as a subject Dylan made the class really enjoyable. It was clear that he really cared for his students and wanted them to excel. Yes at times it wasn't the most interesting but you can tell that he was really invested, passionate and clearly extremely knowledgeable about English. When it came to grading assignments he definitely did a meticulous job but he gives great feedback for further assignments. As long as you're generally prepared for each class and do your work you'll do great. I definitely recommend him as a professor overall |

I took this class for my rhetoric minor and I would recommend it because you learn so much. He is a very knowledgable guy and is very easy going and talkative. That being said, for a 200-level class, there was so much work to be done. There was a midterm and final, as well as two rhetorical analyses. Plus the discussion boards every once in a while. So while i reccomend, be aware of the work. It isnt as scary as I make it seem, but its just annoying. But a lot of the information is super interesting. |

pros: - will help you out a lot if you ask him during office hours or after class (genuinely wants to help his students succeed) - harsh grader when it comes to the essays (its a pro in the sense that you will get meaningful feedback) - very understanding bc if you ask for an extension or have a legit reason to miss class/assignments he will give you ample time to turn it in at a later due date - genuinely wants to know his students (makes the class atmosphere more welcoming) cons: - harsh grader - very fast-paced (he talks pretty fast and goes through the lesson material quickly but does not dismiss class early) - ENGL101 has a lot of essay assignments :/ - textbook readings are a requirement bc he will call on students to see if the class read the textbook or not overall, Mr. Carpenter is a pretty chill guy but the only thing is he will critique your essay very closely bc he passionate in english |

I took ENGL282 as a general education requirement. The readings are 20 pages long due each class and the text is not easy to read but you can probably get through the class with just skimming the text. There is no lecture set up; he just talks and you have to read through the lines and pick up the relevant information. Nice guy for sure. Was not really receptive to my questions and did not make me feel like I could ask questions especially about assignment requirements or content. Take it if you have to but if you have another option definitely go for that instead. |

This class was honestly really enjoyable. The discussion each meeting was engaging and made the readings bearable despite their length. He was very nice and showed true concern for his students. Also, his grading is so lenient as far as regular assignments go. On essays he can be somewhat picky when it comes to feedback, but it's only because of passion. It hardly reflects on your grade. If you want to take 282, Dylan is your only option. (He's also really funny!) |

I enjoyed going to Dylan's class each week. The class itself was boring at times like any english class going over writing structure and grammar rules, etc. His grades on paper are a little harsh but all critiques given are fair and or true. Don't buy the textbook, readings are only really used in the first half of the year and workload only gets heavy when large papers are due. He really wants each of his students to succeed and I would take another class as him as the professor. |

He really cares about the quality of his class and what's going on with his students. The assignments are very manageable - poems to read each week, 1 discussion board a week, and 1 poem due each week. He is definitely a quirky guy and at times fully weird, but definitely worth taking. His passion for poetry is clear, and he'll always help you to improve your poems. He also canceled the final exam on the basis that our class is very hardworking. |
