This course is very fast paced, but it’s understandable due to it being a winter course. The grading was sometimes tough but the assignments are fair and the feedback is helpful. The professor is also very understanding and flexible, just communicate any issues that arise!

While she was sweet at times and the class went over interesting topics, she was SO stank often! She had a very millennial condescending demeanor about her sometimes it felt like it was her job to make students uncomfortable... every class she had a question at the beginning that everyone had to answer that could be about anything, and her reaction to answers could come off so judgmental it just made me not want to participate, no wonder many people stopped coming to class consistently. The workload was fine, to be honest, but the guidelines for the final project made no sense given that you could "do what you want" (essay, photo book, poems, art, etc.) but everyone had to be 10 pages.. how can an essay that is 10 pages be judged the same as art?? Also, her being late to lectures happened too many times.

DO NOT TAKE HER. Harshest grader barely has any sort of rubric for the midterm and final and still graded super harshly, gives little to no feedback on assignments, also has an attitude. You will actually regret taking this class

Im not sure why she has such bad reviews because my experience with her has been wonderful! She is super understanding if we don't get to the weekly readings, and always open to feedback and takes our opinions into account for future assignments. There is a lot of reading but like I said, it's not a big deal if you miss some every once in a while. There is a weekly discussion post on canvas (300 words) a midterm paper and a final project, but she doesn't have a rubric so it's hard to know what she wants. As long as you summarize, analyze, and connect to real world, you should get a 10 on them. She herself says she wants her students to do well and wants to give out high scores. She also has us watch a lot of movies, canceling class so we can watch them from home. She is SO lax on due dates, you can turn anything in up to a week late without penalty, and she extended out midterm deadline also. Overall I really like her class, and I hope the bad reviews don't discourage anyone from taking her class!

Do not, for any godforsaken reason, take her. She expects you to be on her level of writing. Unless you're shakespeare, don't expect an A or A+

Cancelled half the classes and gave everyone a bad grade that brought our GPAs down. Didn't teach anything and had extremely high expectations. Do NOT take her.

Whatever you do, do NOT take her. If you’re in her class, get out ASAP. First day of class, she promised that Engl101 will be a GPA booster. Wrong. Her dad died and she took it out on her students. Very few students received higher than an A-. This brought my GPA down!!! It was the only class all of freshman year that I received an A- in. She cancelled half the classes, didn’t teach jack, and graded far too harsh. Do NOT take her!

She cancelled class a lot and graded super harshly for ENGL101. Her rubric was basically subjective and she would always comment what she, herself, personally did not like. I recommend picking another professor-- it was hard to even earn an A-. Class also lacked structure.

Leela is a great professor. Very down to earth, and understanding, makes the class engaging, and even provides a week grace period for major assignments. The class shouldn't be hard, and she keeps it that way. Would recommend
