Debleena was so helpful and sweet throughout the course! Don’t get me wrong, this course is hard especially if you’re in your final semester. The experiments don’t always give the results you’re expecting and the writing assignments take a lot of time so it’s a bit much even for a three credit course. However, Debbie was like a ray of sunshine. She was so kind and approachable always. Having her as the TA was probably the only and the best thing about this course I liked. Since it was her first time teaching this course, she would also attend the discussion lectures with us. She would sit at the front and listen attentively while taking copious notes just so that she could understand and help us more during the time when that experiment would be done next week in lab. Her reviews from CHEM132 were not wrong! She would keep coming and checking on us during the lab and will never make you feel stupid for asking any question. She would meticulously calculate and write down pointwise steps in different colored markers in simple words in the whiteboard, which were so easy to follow along compared to our Benchling notes or top hat description. And would check the steps off once we were done so that everyone was in the loop so it was clear where we stand. She demonstrated every experiment by performing it first in front of all the students before expecting us to repeat it. Considering her hectic schedule as she herself is a PhD student, she still tried to do every possible thing to make this lab easier and likable for us. She went above and beyond- even when she didn’t have to. She may not have every answer you ask her, but she would surely guide you in the right direction. She has strong knowledge of biochemistry which helps when she explains concepts (yeah, she even tries to explain why things happen the way they do- during down time or waiting time!). She was also genuinely funny and would keep our attention when teaching so we all really enjoyed it. She used to refer us to Dr. Capp for whichever lab or assignment related questions she did not have an answer for, which is fine as Dr. Capp was also quite helpful and we would ultimately get our answer. I had initially thought of dropping this course but I kept at it when I got to know Debbie within the first two labs. Not a single student dropped out from our section although many were initially planning to. She is not like other TAs, she really cares and makes you feel so loved. She treated us all equally. Her personality is not one you’ll forget soon. This long review is for her, not for the course. I hope you read this- you made this difficult lab a bit more survivable, Debbie. If you’re planning on taking this lab and get Debbie as your TA, believe me you don’t want to miss out. Stay sincere with the deadlines and pre lab write ups, and Debbie will help you navigate the rest. This course is A LOT of work but she will do what she can to make things a bit easier and more more comfortable for you! :)

Debleena is the absolute best. She was always super helpful and kind. She always checks in during experiments and helps when you make a mistake. Additionally, she explains how do the worksheets very well and prepares you for each experiment. She worked very hard to make sure all of her students succeeded and I am very grateful for her. She is by far the best TA I have ever had.

Debleena is probably the best TA you could get for a lab. I was scared going in because people always say the TAs are of no help and leave you in the dust. Debleena clearly cared for her students and made it very known. There was never a time you couldn't ask her a question or for help. She was always looking out for her students. I don't think I saw her sit once during lab because she was always helping someone or making herself available. Considering she was constantly busy with her own PhD she made this class very manageable for the students. her kindness and support never went unnoticed.

Debleena was so helpful always. It was clear she really cares about the well being of students. She tried to explain concepts in detail and would provide help with solving the worksheets and analyzing data in every lab during the pre-lab lecture. She also beautifully tied together the theory with the practical in the class. She never made students feel lost or unsupported. She was always there to help. She is one of the busiest TAs I have ever seen with her always being by the students' side throughout the experiment. She is easily one of the best TAs I have ever had. She made this difficult course a bit more manageable with her help. She was always responsive to emails and very helpful during her office hours. I was really lucky to have her as my TA.
