Probably the best professor to teach this class. Passionate about the content in the class, but knows it's a required course that people don't care about. But he still tries to keep everyone engaged, which he easily did because of his teaching style and the in-class assignments that we did (Google Forms). The assignments outside class are really easy and were graded very leniently by the TA, and don't take more than maybe 20 minutes for the two written assignments and the quiz. The exams were easy because we got a note sheet that you can do anything with, and he also provided a massive PowerPoint of everything the exam will potentially cover (only the things that could be tested on were on the slides). There was a group project that was very chill because he clearly outlined what he wanted and also graded them lightly. All in all, one of the best professors I've had so far. If you can take him , I highly recommend it.

Just an absolutely amazing professor and super down to earth with his students. He's super understanding of the student's needs and expectations and grounds the course around such. He also makes a fairly boring course pretty interesting just with his teaching style and the activities he does in the course. I would highly recommend taking him if you can and also if you can get to know him outside of class because hes fr funny af and will just throw some of the wildest comments out in the most comedic ways.

This dude is my Goat. The best thing about him is that he knows how tedious this class is and that most people don't care, but he still creates an inclusive environment for everyone. He structures the class the way he wants to teach it and wants you to learn. The assignments are super easy and don't take more than like 20 minutes. The exams are chill because you get a cheat sheet that isn't weighted heavily. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it, you won't regret it

This class involved both lectures and movement days. I would say we had about 4-5 days in the dance studio, learning a variety of dance styles, but most classes were in a classroom talking about different types of dance. I think the class was pretty easy, 35% of the grade is just showing up. However, you are only allowed one missed class, so for every lecture you miss, you lose 5 participation points. Other than that, the work is just one discussion board per week, one midterm project, and one final project. If you put in a significant amount of effort, you will get good grades in these assignments, but his instructions are often unclear and his feedback is unhelpful, so it is easy to get points off if you are not overly thorough. Just make sure you over-analyze everything and you will get full points. He also is not the most understanding if you need an extension or genuinely can't make it to class one day. A lot of announcements were posted very late, I have been on the way to a lecture class and then 15 minutes before it starts, I get a notification that we are actually in the studio. I had to run the other way to go back to my dorm and then to the Clarice, so I was super late. I have danced all my life, so I thought this would be a very interesting class, but I found the lectures long and not particularly engaging. I would recommend this class if you love learning about the origins of different dance styles, but it was definitely not as heavy on the movement days as I would have liked.

I honestly thought this was going to be an easy A gen-ed and it isn't. Kevin loves dance but he makes this class too much work even when he knows nobody is a dance major and that we are all taking it for the gen-ed. It is a weekly discussion board that takes more effort than it should, and classes where he makes us over analyze dances that nobody is paying attention to. He grades strictly after a few weeks after trying to be cool and hip in the beginning. the midterm and final are a lot of work and he is very strict. Do not take this class if you don't have a friend taking it with you. The embodiment days are fine but sometimes a lot of effort and made me sweat. Overall a fine class if you need to take it, but maybe look for a different option.

Honestly, do not recommend this class. Kevin is definitely passionate about dance, but the assignments are too lengthy and take up too much time given that the class is supposed to be an easy A, dance class. Embodiment days are fine, but they can also feel very awkward. Unless you are super interested in dance, I wouldn't take this class.

Kevin is a great professor who is incredibly passionate about dance, and this class is incredibly easy. Weekly discussion posts and then a slightly longer midterm and final presentation make up most of the grade. While it often feels like he takes what is meant to be an easy class a little too seriously, I enjoyed having him as a teacher.

Kevin was awesome! It is very easy to put this class on the back burner, but he takes assignments and academic integrity very seriously, so don't half-ass discussion posts. Some things feel a little pointless and like strange topics in regards to dance, but our movement days where we actually got to dance were so great.
