This professor is among the least favorable I have ever experienced. She shows a strong bias toward the left and fails to include all perspectives, which is necessary for pluralism. It takes her months to evaluate even the smallest assignments, such as the discussion posts. Upon returning these assignments, they were examined closely and had minimal comments. She conveyed the assignment requirements AWFULLY. It gives you a general concept of what to do without offering a strict guideline to clarify what the precise expectations are. Understanding a student's current grade is very challenging because professors take months to grade assignments; thus, by mid-semester, you might be fortunate to have only 2 out of the approximately 8 grades expected. In addition to her poor grades, she incorporates religion into the classroom due to her history as a minister. This isn’t what we require, and sometimes it seems as though she is imposing her beliefs on us, both religious and personal. She also clouds the tasks and provides you with only a limited time to complete certain assignments. She is highly rigid regarding assignments and can be rather disrespectful or very passive-aggressive at times if we slightly challenge her perspective or disagree with her opinions. I must concede that she conducted enjoyable simulations in class and can be funny occasionally, but otherwise, a dreadful lecturer. I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER IN ANY WAY.

The professor’s grading practices are consistently delayed, with assignments returned months after the due date and little to no explanation provided for the marks given. Communication is poor, with unclear expectations and limited responsiveness to student concerns. These issues create unnecessary confusion and make it difficult to track academic progress.

Overall solid class. As a non policy major it is not hard if you show up, skim the readings, and put in some effort on major assignments. Class is very discussion heavy and attendance is mandatory. Professor Cooper shows a lot of enthusiasm and encourages meaningful discussions of the topics. Only thing is she give 4-5 days to work on major assignments which is annoying considering there is only 3 and they are all worth a large part of the grade.

Prof. Johnson Cooper is a great lecturer and does her best to make the class content (yes it is really easy) fun and easy to understand. She takes in students' inputs and integrates the feedback the best she can. She also does her best to make sure everyone gets the maximum amount of points they can and even creates bonus assignments to give students another opportunity to do so. She is definitely experienced working in public policy and knows what she is talking about and shows that by teaching from readings and podcasts but also her also personal experiences.

I enjoyed taking Professor Johnson Cooper’s class this semester. If you show up this class is very straightforward and easy to manage. She puts in effort to make sure the class is as interactive and engaging as possible. The classroom felt like a community and she puts in effort to get to know everyone and refers to everyone by name. She is very kind and I recommend taking a class with her if you get a chance.

Professor Johnson Cooper is extremely inflexible and rude. The class is relatively interesting and basic concepts (easy content), but taking it with JC makes it extremely difficult. I recommend taking this class, however, please take it with the other section (claire dunning), if you can. This professor makes life unbearable and does not empathize with her students whatsoever.

The class was easy, but Professor Johnson Cooper made the class unbearable. She shows favoritism very early on in the semester, and only talks to those few students. Participation is a large portion of the grade, but she makes it impossible for the majority of students to even earn a B considering she does not give people the chance to speak. She heavily emphasizes equality and respect, which is ironic given how she treats her students. She also came unprepared to most classes and I feel like I barely learned anything. I would not recommend her at all.

One of the easiest classes I have taken content and assignment wise, however this professor does not care about her students like she claims she does. Multiple students had difficulties this semester, some not even COVID related, however she had no empathy towards these students and giving them extensions, and instead told them to withdrawal from the course. Was one of the most unreachable professors ever; you could email her and she would instead just forward the email to her TA Tyra (who is absolutely amazing) to have her respond instead. Would cancel office hour appointments 5 minutes before the scheduled time. Won't explain why you got points off because it's "in the rubric." Only sees things her way. However, if you take plcy310 you don't really have a choice, so just be prepared.
