I found this class to be pretty boring, and I have taken many classes on racism and intercultural communication. I think that there is not really a logical flow of information in the course. I think there are several instances where the professor was not very understanding of people's differing opinions and viewpoints, and I feel like this class kind of lessened the affects of racism when compared to my other classes. I think the approach was more "let's all get along, we are all humans" and while that is good, it put a bad taste in my mouth at times. Professor Dapherede is a nice woman, but I was not fond of her teaching style or approach to this topic. |

Although it is a boring topic, the actual professor is a bit difficult to work with. She's nice but grading is a bit more subjective- also she tends to favor the men in the class and is harsher on the women. |

Really nice lady! Not a super harsh grade and as long as you take initiative early on she can typically accommodate you if you have any issues. Class structure is nice and simple. Read the textbook (typically not too long), take the chapter quiz before class, and come to lecture. Lectures felt a bit redundant but attendance is required. My only complaint is probably that attending class felt pointless but that isn't her fault. Homework: Typically just drafts for your speeches. Even if you procrastinate you can get them done in a reasonable amount of time. Quizzes: One quiz per chapter, VERY doable and easy, just read the chapters. EXAMS: Just the final, which was a recorded speech we submitted and obviously very doable. |

Relatively easy grader. Her lectures are not too interesting but I blame that more on the textbook/subject. Overall I would recommend. |
