CHBE422 Expecting an A- Anonymous 12/24/2025 |
Panos has a pretty thick accent which makes it difficult to understand what he's saying at times. But he is very funny and nice guy, and tries to make the class less stressful. I don't rlly remember what happened in class, I think I spaced out for a good lot of it cause fluids is kinda boring. I also didn't rlly do the Hw's cause the TA does solutions for them before its due. That made me very stressed for the exam bc I literally had no idea what was going on. SOme on the HWs are like crazyyyy, like pages and pages of derivations and integrals. Luckily the exams are nothing like that. Panos will detail which concepts and hw problems to focus on, which are much more simpler problems. You get a cheat sheet which is nice. Understand the concepts well, bc the exams are more concept heavy that pure math. Understand what shear stress is, what the sign means, also don't say anything about Le chatliers principle here bc its not the right answer man. Exam 2, or the final was way worse. The Hws were insane, I rlly relied on discussion to complete it. The concepts are also more difficult, I think I was very lucky how the final played out, and what notes I happened to review. That being said, it would rlly help you to do the Hw. Not the crazy difficult ones, but the smaller problems which are concept heavy. The ave for exam 1 ~ 66% curved to 72% and exam 2 im guessing will be around 63%. I think there will be a generous curve, but aim for B's on the exam if you want an A. |

Exams for this course were very reasonable. Grade breakdown was very evenly distributed between attendance, homework, and exams. He listens to students, always answers questions promptly, and extended deadlines several times. Grading speed was reasonable. He did struggle with understanding technology. This is especially challenging during an online semester. He didnt know how to send announcements so everything was sent to your gmail. Sometimes he couldn't figure out how to let students into Zoom. He did post all material on ELMS, but they were just thrown into Files haphazardly and inconvenient to navigate. My primary complaint with professor Dimitrakopoulos is that he was very difficult to understand. He has a thick accent. In an of itself this is fine. I did the usual and supplemented with additional materials: course approved textbook, MATLAB official tutorials, and some YouTube videos. The only issue with this is that I was marked wrong if I used a function not explicitly mentioned in class, even if I followed the assignment directions. I did take CHBE250 over the summer and grading was primarily done by the TA. |
