Marilena Draganescu UMEI005 Expecting an A+ Anonymous 03/04/2026	1. The instructor is often emotional and treats certain students differently, especially Asian students (I am not Asian). She has yelled at students in class and sometimes refused to answer their questions. 2. In the second half of the course, we spent a lot of time on her chosen readings and videos. She tested very specific details from them every week. I don't think this is related to learning English at all. A large amount of time was spent rote-memorizing redundant names, dates, places, and events from the readings. Very unnecessary. 3. I know people have different ideas about how to improve English, but personally I felt I was just wasting time and energy in this class without any real improvement. The TOEFL exam in this course is not easy, yet the class feels like a trap. Don't be too optimistic to it. 40 percents of students failed to pass it and have to retake this useless class. From what I know, the students who passed were mostly those who were already capable of passing before taking this course. 4. I honestly don't understand how the positive reviews on Planetterp make sense, especially since they don't allow anonymous posts. She does not listen to students at all and forces them to follow unreasonable rules.
Marilena Draganescu UMEI005 Expecting an A Anonymous 12/08/2023	A really great professor, she’s awesome at controlling the class pace, really listens to students' opinions, and makes learning fun. The classroom vibe is very chill and friendly, and before you know it, the two hours are up. She is strict: spotting every little mistakes in our homework, but she never give us harsh grades. This semester with her and the rest of the class has been a blast.

She is a proficient teacher with great time management and skills.Classroom is full of different enjoyable class activities. Only students with poor time management and attitute will not handle the class. She strict and kind. Her classroom is well-structured and deciplined. Her students proved her teaching with great outcome.
