Great person, had great conversations, genuinely enjoyed the class, genuinely good human. Don't take it expecting a no work easy A. You have to actually want to be there, which isn't hard, but it's not the brainless dialogue class I expected. Quick crash course for passing: Dialogue: Come having already read the readings. Mention them 2-4 times ideally. Talk in a way that doesn't hog the time but enough to show your participation and attentiveness. Sit attentively and don't zone out. Reference previous weeks and what your classmates have mentioned. Think progressively and practice active listening. You have to really sink into the mindset of not just taking the class for the A. Journals: Mention at least 1-2 things from dialogue, 1-2 things from readings, and 1-2 personal connections. Extra is preferred but follow the 2 pages of quality writing guideline and you should be fine. Make them personal as you can and try to get some morals and lessons in there. Final Philosophy: Make an outline of the questions they give to base your essay on and fill in the answers. Then patchwork that together and edit, revise, and have as many people as possible read it. |

Took this course to get my DVCC out of the way, the course isn't the most captivating, but it's one I would recommend taking. Coming in once a week just to discuss is honestly quite pleasant. The assignments also aren't time-consuming at all and I found a lot of the activities and case studies pretty interesting. I can honestly say this class made me think differently which is more than I can say about many classes. Freddie is also an instructor who cares deeply about the topics covered and about every student. |

I took this class to do an easy gen ed (1 credit DVCC half a semester) but nothing about this course is useful. Useless dialogues for 2 hours a week and your journals and participation are graded so harshly it's annoying. Freddie is also very critical of what you have to say and honestly kinda is the person who babies their students that it's sickening. |
