GEOG416 Expecting an A- Anonymous 04/22/2024 |
Dr. Feng is nice and fairly responsive to emails, but his rubrics are way too vague and he does not clearly state exactly what he is looking for. He will take points off for not mentioning certain things in essays, but will not state that you needed to include that in the rubric. As well, he is not the best at explaining certain topics. And the examples that he provides may sometimes not completely align with the assignment and can actually make it more confusing than it needs to be. That being said, I would not recommend GEOG416 if you are a procrastinator, do not like writing scientific papers, and/or struggle to compute calculations on excel. |

Dr. Feng is very dry and boring, and the assignments in this course feel like busy work. Although there were occasionally interesting lectures, the majority are not as exciting as I would've hoped from the course title. The class is relatively easy but I personally wouldn't recommend it. However, Dr. Feng is fairly compassionate towards his students and allows for one "token" to be used during the semester. The token can be used for a missing discussion or turning in an assignment late, in which any penalty will be dropped. This is a fair rule and he is generally kind. |

Dr. Feng is okay. He cares very much and his main goal is to help each student succeed, and he is very flexible and reachable. The reason that he's only okay is that he has a thick accent, which makes him very hard to understand. The content he teaches, the content in the textbook, and the content on exams are not completely parallel. Personally I chose to focus on the textbook material, and that got me an A-. As long as you spend some time studying the material, it's super easy. |

Really nice professor. He's straightforward with his explanations and really cares about his students. There's only one midterm which is honestly pretty easy and no homework except for making two presentations throughout the semester with the addition of a final paper. There's also another essay that can be completed for a bonus of 5% and two quizzes throughout the semester as well. The final is also easy (no trick questions) and I would highly recommend this class as it's really interesting! |
