Dr. Fritz is a great professor - don't listen to other reviews. She does not record lectures, you actually have to go to them, but this really shouldn't be the end of the world. The amount of content presented is very manageable. Only 2 exams, weekly quizzes that were a bit tricky but fine, and a final project that was also very doable. This is a 400-level class, I don't understand why people are complaining. The exams are similar to those of other 400-level classes. Free response only, but not unbearable. I would take another class with Dr. Fritz. Study with flash cards for a couple of days before each exam and you'll be fine. |

Although I am getting an A, I truly think it was really hard. She is also just not a nice person in general and I think that is the worst part. The class does not record and was very early in the morning. There needs to be background knowledge to take this course. |

Dr. Fritz is truly an awful human being. Someone's mom passed away and she still made them take the test a couple days after and asked for a death certificate. There are way easier electives so please take those. |

Dr. Fritz is a horrible teacher. She never wanted any student to succeed. I read the reviews previously and thought this would be a good class, but it was not. Her content was not hard, but she wanted her students to fail and at the end of the day she is in charge of our grades. I don't know why she is a teacher if all she wanted was for students to do poorly. I think she is upset with the profession she has and wants everyone to be sad. She never recorded lectures and put stuff on exams that she would speak about that were not in her slides. Class was so early in the morning, and she would barely answer any questions during exams. If you ever missed an assignment, she would have no leeway into helping. Please take another bio class because this will hurt your grade. |

Ok first, I don't know what the previous review is barking about because Dr. Fritz was a great professor. Even though this class was on the 400 level, the assignments were manageable and relatively chill with only 2 homework assignments, short weekly quizzes, a final project, and two midterms that had averages in the 80s. As a professor, Dr. Fritz was accommodating and always willing to answer questions in class and afterward for any concepts. As for giving specific answers, yes she expects you to apply examples in class, which is reasonable, but as long as you study the slides and take some decent notes in class, you should be fine. In addition, even though I knew nothing about entomology before this course, I managed to do well because this class piqued my interest, and it was easy to do well as long as you put in sufficient effort. We even had some hands-on activities in discussion, which were really fun! Overall, I strongly recommend taking Dr. Fritz for this course! |

DO NOT TAKE. Dr. Fritz is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is not accommodating when you are struggling in her class and does not record lectures anymore. She speaks incredibly fast and uses very specific examples on tests, and if you do not include those she gives u points off. It used to be a fun and easy class and now it is not. You need to have a background in entomology in order to do well. She does not understand that students sometimes are just overwhelmed and busy and does not give resources to help. Overall, this is the worst class I have taken in the history of my UMD career and all biology classes. |

Dr. Fritz is an extremely engaging professor who truly cares about the class and her students. Her class is digestible, and the material is interesting. Even having no background in entomology, I am having no trouble succeeding in her class. She offers "recorded" versions of her lectures so you can review topics from each slide. Discussion section is also interesting where there are often hands on activities relating to insect surveillance and/or identification. Her class has a weekly quiz, 2 homework assignments, and 2 midterms. The midterms are not too bad as long as you put in the work to review the slides. Overall, would highly recommend taking her class! |
