Very sweet professor! Lenient about work and very willing to adjust if things are going on in your life. Bigger grades will be project based but the projects are not difficult and be quite fun. I admittedly took the course for gen ed credit, but I have no complaints with the structure and Prof. Fromm is lovely. |

Overall great class with a manageable workload and a nice the professor. The only issue is if you mess something up once your grade can drop by a couple percentage points. |

Professor Fromm is literally the nicest and most understanding person ever. I took her JOUR175 class in the Fall of 2022 and I loved it. We had a discussion post due each week and a mix of different media literacy-related assignments. She gave us 2 "no questions asked" absences because she understood that life could be challenging sometimes. I definitely recommend this course to anyone who needs the gen-ed or just wants a fun elective. |

One of the best teachers I have had at UMD. If you are nervous about comm, please take it with her. As long as you are respectful she will give you so much in return and understands we have lives outside of school. |

Dr. Fromm is the greatest professor I have had at UMD (I’m now a senior). She is interesting, passionate, and genuinely cares about you. I loved her so much in COMM303 that I had to take another course with her for my last semester. If you have the chance, I 10000% recommend taking a class with her, she is the epitome of a teacher who loves her job. |

Top tier professor who not only keeps you engaged in lecture, but understands that people have lives outside of class. I typically have neutral feelings towards professors, but Dr.Fromm has got to be one of my favorites. Just from the start of class, she would come in with a jocular mood, and set the tone well for the class. She was never monotone, and never contradicted herself. What I mean by the contradiction, is that there may be some communications professor who speaks in a monotone manner, isn't really prepared for class, and simply make the lecture useless or boring to go to. She isn't like that. I may have went on my computer a few times in lecture from being off task, but I wish I cherished having her as a professor more. As a person, she's 10/10. The course is organized well, as there is not many assignments you have to do in a short period of time. Even cramming the speeches at the end is not a crazy task to do (although, I advise you not to do that lol). There's 10 quizzes throughout the semester, 4 speeches (including an online asynchronous final speech), and the rest of the assignments are graded on participation/completion. Structure of the course is amazing, as well as the person teaching it. Only Con I'd say is that the 4th edition of the textbook is on libgen, but the class required the 5th edition of that book, so I had to pay $30 on this website to rent the book for 6 months. The quizzes are open note, so you could use the textbook with the quiz (questions on the quiz are based off of the textbook). If you have the chance to take it with Dr.Fromm, I say you do. She takes everything into account because she knows people have lives at the end of the day. What more could you ask for from a professor? |

She is the most caring person ever! She cares about her students and is really flexible in terms of assignments and grades. You will need to put effort in this course, but it is very manageable. She also creates a very safe environment that made public speaking a little less daunting. Overall, if you need to take this course, take it with Fromm you won't regret it. |
