I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The content was extremely interesting, but Dr. Fryer really made the class. The class has great structure, with clear expectations, and he goes in depth with all content and reviews if needed. I understand what the other reviews say about busywork, but I honestly thought it was not bad, and assignments were generally helpful in applying course content. Definitely come to lectures in person, as he puts gaps in the notes that he only fills in when presenting in class. There's also a couple pop quizzes, but nothing too hard. Dr. Fryer is truly a great professor, and I recommend this class to anyone in public health/ healthcare.

If you are taking his class as a gen ed like I did, it is not worth it. There are way easer gen eds to take. First, he makes his exams way harder then the actual slides (claims there are no trick questions...there are trick questions on the exam). Second, he is really annoying about how he grades his work and journal entries. Third, everything is taken on a lock down browser and nothing is open note. Fourth, if you miss a class on a day that has a quiz (which are pop quizzes, he does not tell you when they are happening) you get a zero. Same goes for your in-class activity. Overall, not worth your time. Take a different professor.

Dr. Fryer taught really well (HLTH230) in the pandemic. I liked his style of teaching-- Tuesdays were recorded lectures and Thursdays were synchronous. However, Dr. Fryer gives too many busy assignments. He grades very harshly, he is a nice professor although. He gives video worksheets every single week, discussion board assingment is very lengthy and due on wednesdays and friday is 2 responses to classmate due. exams were too specific and hard. dont take this class
