Really good professor, makes the class very digestible and easy to break down. Super straightforward and I highly recommend for bio majors looking to fill out the rest of their requirements. If you are taking this during summer, there are 23 quizzes broken down over 2.5 weeks, which makes it very important to not fall behind and just do a couple a day so you aren't rushed for time. He does drop the lowest quiz but that's still 22 assignments. The exams are 55 points, with 25 multiple choice and 3 short answers that you have to answer out of 5 choices. Will note that the class is weighted, with exams weighing 75% for the class, the quizzes weighing for 25%. He is very particular about wording so be very thorough and have a complete understanding of the topic; bs-ing your way with the short answers is an easy way to get docked multiple points and these can add up. I wouldn't call it an easy A, but it's very easy to get a B/B+ in this class, there just isn't a whole lot of margin for error if you want an A and beyond. But very manageable overall and highly recommend.

Professor Gonzalez seems to be new since this is the first time I have seen any courses being taught by him. I was hoping to take 370 with Fletcher in the spring, but no one was teaching it so I reluctantly signed up for this class over the winter. I have taken several winter/summer courses and this one is one of my favorites. Professor Gonzalez has designed all of the lectures to be "bite sized" so the longest lecture video is ~45 minutes. There is a ton of content, but the course digestible by design. Moreover, the few times I needed to email him he got back very quickly and was beyond nice. I would highly encourage anyone needing 370 and has a possibility of taking it with Gonzalez to do it. At the moment, there is no HW just quizzes and exams; but all of the quizzes and exams are fair. If you're watching the lectures and understanding the learning objectives you'll be fine. He's not out to get you/trick you. He's one of the more fair biology professors I have had. Bottom line, this is a great winter class. Good luck!
