Inna Alexeevna is genuinely one of the best professors I have ever had. She truly cares about each and every student and wants to see you succeed. She offers (and encourages you to go to) extra practice every week. She is actually really nice when it comes to grading too. The other day, she literally said "You have to try really hard to get below a B in my class" and tbh she was absolutely right. RUSS101 is a lot of work but Inna's enthusiasm starts to rub off on you and you will be amazed at how much you pick up after a short amount of time. If you are even considering taking Russian I highly recommend! (Fair warning though: if you are a chronic class-skipper maybe skip this one because you absolutely need to be there for every class you can because RUSS101 goes fast and she can and will give you a disappointed look) |

The quality of this class is unbeatable. It is not easy by any measure, but is 100% possible to excel in, very fair and forgiving grading. She genuinely cares about each and every student. You will even be invited on field trips on the weekends to go places such as the national zoo and museums in the D.C. area to practice Russian! If you are on the fence about taking this class, just do it! You will never regret it! |

Professor Hardman is the best. If you want to learn Russian, take the elementary sequence with her. RUSS101 and 102 are six credits and meet five days a week, but you will speak Russian at an intermediate level by year's end. She offers many opportunities for outside-of-class practice and even hosts some field trips. |

Inna Alexeevna is genuinely the best professor you will ever have if you take her class. She cares about all of her students tremendously and will work on making sure you will succeed if you truly want to. If you need help, she will practice with you outside of class. You absolutely NEED to go to class every day as it is fast paced and you will miss a lot if not in class. If you cannot commit to making class every day, do not take her class. If you really want to learn Russian and can dedicate the time for it though, there is no better professor to have than Inna. I would recommend taking her for any course she teaches. |

If you want to wake up every day with anxiety and fear that you don't speak proper Russian yet, look no further. Inna is tough! But I can say that she brings out the best in each student in the class. Homework is assigned everyday but it is easy because it is from a workbook that has "assigned days" to it. Tests are short and she tells you exactly what is on them so there are no surprises. NEVER MISS A DAY OF CLASS! Every person in my class who missed a single day of Russian in my class NEVER caught up, no matter how hard they tried. This is not an exaggeration. There are too many "cases" and too many "rules" in Russian grammar and this class moves extremely quick (once again because it follows a work book with assigned homework to each day to be followed). Days will be hard sometimes depending on the pace of the class. But yes, she will shout, stomp, and throw her fist in the air at you when you repeatedly get something wrong and it's been 3 days since she taught you, but make no mistake, she is the best Russian teacher you will ever have :) Would take her again if I had the chance. Love Russian now! P.s. I studied hard af. |

She's is a hardass. She will shout, she will stomp and she will demand that you do something again, again, and again until you get it right. BUT, you will not find anyone else in the entire language department that is more passionate about their work. She is tough, she expects A LOT from her students and she will practice with you one-on-one every day if that's what you need. You could not ask for a better 101 professor. She cares more than any professor at UMD and you'd be lucky to have her. |
