Literally the SWEETEST professor ever. The other reviews don't do her justice; they are reviewing the class. Her exams are super fair. She's not the most energetic lecturer, but she gives a lot of great examples and makes it really easy for you to understand the content. This class is 3 exams and a final research paper which is with a group, which can be good or bad depending on your group. I personally had a very responsive and cooperative group, which helped a lot. She provides a clear study guide for each exam. If the content isn't on the study guide, it's not on the exam, even if it was in the lecture. All the grading is very fair and no bs. Her style is just straight lecturing with some videos to help you understand the content, and you are required to scan a QR code for an in-class assignment each day, so it might not be for everyone. She posts all the slides before class starts. Easy class if you attend lectures. |

Great professor! I had her for both FIRE198 and FIRE298, though she's moving to the psych department so I won't talk about the fire stuff. She's super nice, and I really felt that she wanted to get to know me personally (and succeeded!). She's very inclusive and encourages everyone to do their best. No idea if this will apply in the future, but she would always bring snacks for us in lab. She's understanding if you need an extension or something similar, and she showed genuine interest in my projects, especially when I connected it to another of my interests. 100% would recommend, if there's a gap in my schedule I might even take her again despite not being a psych or psych-adjacent major. |

Definitely one of the worst professors to take for this. You don’t learn much. While she’s nice at a surface level, if anything goes wrong in your personal life (even being sick for a week) she thinks you not coming to class signals a lack of dedication. |

Pros: -Easy A. -basically no work. -It's 3 credits and satisfies a gened. Cons: -You will learn absolutely nothing. -Some of the topics covered were a bit simplified and a little too political. -Pointless class. |

Class is an incredibly easy A, but I don't feel like I got much out of it. I would only recommend taking FIRE if you have a stream you know you are interested in. As far as Dr. Hartwig, she is very nice and quick to respond to emails. |
