Grade consists of 15% for DataCamp courses (each course is worth 2.5%, and you have to complete 6 for full credit), 35% for Python problem sets, 15% each for the midterm, final, and final group project, and 5% for participation. Everything you need to succeed is in the course Google Drive, and problem sets are very similar to the in-class exercises, so be sure to reference them. He posts practice exams in the Drive and goes over answers in the class sessions before exam day. The exams are non-cumulative, and he allows cheat sheets (one double-sided for the midterm, and two double-sided for the final). The most difficult assignment is probably the final project because it will likely require some outside research. Overall, this class is relatively straightforward. Just make sure to stay on top of the DataCamp courses, because that should realistically be a free 15%. Prof. He himself is a pretty chill professor. He enjoys when students participate, and does his best to break down tough concepts. He's also always willing to answer questions in class, after/before class, or on Piazza. Lastly, you might get intimidated by all of the formulas that Prof. He puts on his slideshows, but don't be. You don't have to memorize the formulas, or even know how to use most of them. It is usually enough to be able to articulate how/why a formula is used, and to be able to interpret what a given answer or variable means.

The other 745 review is quite inaccurate and the star rating given is too high. The professor is very intelligent. He is not very good at explaining concepts. It's unfortunate that year and year again, he is the only professor who teaches the class. It's as if the reviews that were posted arent read by the administration.

The course consists of: datacamp courses, two python individual assignments, group project, final exam. The nature of this class is very mathematical. The slides were lacking in interpretations, they had math formulas and graphs, but little explanations. Its highly important to write on the slides the logic/interpretations during lecture time, otherwise it would be hard to explain to yourself. The prof does his best to explain, he is shy and doesn't grab your attention. Its really easy to wonder off and not pay attention. However, if you force yourself to pay attention to his explanation, and ask him questions and to repeat points, you would help yourself a lot later on; as the material is definitely not intuitive nor self-explanatory. The in-class python applications were very good and helped a lot to understand the concepts, and to do the individual assignment. The prof was very friendly, very helpful in office hours, considerate of any special needs, also considerate of the difficulty of the course concepts.

Took him for BMGT 347 and is a nice guy, but this is by far the hardest business school class I have taken at UMD. You have to really love math and coding to get what is going on and Professor He helps out, but he really is on another level when it comes to econometrics. If you like the intersections between Math, statistics, econ, and coding then this class is for you, but if not then I would stay away and take an easier class.
