Unlike the other reviewer I found Rick to be a great prof. The class was a little too long but that's kind of out of his control. He was willing to meet with everyone and anyone to look over and work on developing lesson plans. The class was tues/thurs 3-5 and every thurs was a tutoring program at Buck Lodge Middle School- so you'll need a car or find someone with a car. The class was also concentrated on special education which I found important and helpful. (Others found this boring, but it is a reality that all teachers will have to deal with) He only wanted to review tech standards with students who missed thursdays and didn't let him know, or give excuses. He let's you redo any assignment. Just follow rubrics when doing assignments and they're not a problem.

He gives alot of work and alot of readings. The readings are required but there are no tests and they don't really help with anything so you can skate them. He changed how the class was graded mid semester and started using rubrics that were very ridged to grade assignments giving most people averages in the C's. He lets you redo any assignment to get a better grade but it's very frustrating. His methods of student centric teaching really get annoying during the class because for a 2 hour class it is not applicable. We spend more of the time sitting and staring at each other. I wish he would have just lectured. Doesn't warrant a 1 right? Here's the 1. He treats the class as if they were middle schoolers in some of his "rules." For example, if you miss a class, you will be invited in to his office at a non-class time and be read the technical standards of the College of Education. The same paper we already saw when the class started and they force you to sign... So it is very redundant and if nothing more a pathetic attempt at a punishment with a secondary school mentality on how to go about it. He says to think of the class as a job, but the problem is you're paying him to be there, and if you want to miss a class, you miss a class. Not with him, apparently. Miserably boring too. Avoid at all costs. I'm dropping education because of this class. It's all busy work.
