I wanted to choose Exploring Computer Science(He teaches the class but is also a math teacher), but unfortunately so choose something random. At first during the first week of school he had already been talking about color coding things, using examples like lightbulbs or something similar to that. We than had a project on building the tallest tower with 10 pieces' of paper, sounds fun right! No, we had a whole assignment we had to right based on this, your better off just writing an entire dang Essay. Once we actually started the "real" programing on CODE.ORG!!! I could already tell he was useless at all costs, showed no sine of trying to help his students. When asked a question, he would act very clumsy and stupid. He would search the answers to the code and things on CHAT GPT! Super in - expirenced person. My mom went to a parent conference , and asked him some coding language questions. Guess what, he couldn't answer no question, the only thing he actually knew what to do was say IDK. He said you should be able to "pass the class", but in reality, you don't I know atleast 10 people who failed this class. I was originally planning on dropping out but the counselor Mrs.K***** said I probably shouldn't since it was the last day I could drop out and I was originally planning on switching to FOT(Foundation of Technology), but ended up deciding not to since the have already had 20 assignments and I would only be given a short amount of time to complete them. He also thinks everyone is doing other things such as Minecraft ED, I got in 2 since I was doing "other things", he takes advantage of us and lightspeed to much. I also got banned from using the bathroom since I had to Poop, and was out for only 6 mins! Which is also a violation of my rights stated in the HC policy's and National rights. He deserves to be fired at all costs. HE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE HIM AS A TEACHER HE IS LEGITEMENTLY AND EVIL WHICH. |

Unlike the other reviewer I found Rick to be a great prof. The class was a little too long but that's kind of out of his control. He was willing to meet with everyone and anyone to look over and work on developing lesson plans. The class was tues/thurs 3-5 and every thurs was a tutoring program at Buck Lodge Middle School- so you'll need a car or find someone with a car. The class was also concentrated on special education which I found important and helpful. (Others found this boring, but it is a reality that all teachers will have to deal with) He only wanted to review tech standards with students who missed thursdays and didn't let him know, or give excuses. He let's you redo any assignment. Just follow rubrics when doing assignments and they're not a problem. |

He gives alot of work and alot of readings. The readings are required but there are no tests and they don't really help with anything so you can skate them. He changed how the class was graded mid semester and started using rubrics that were very ridged to grade assignments giving most people averages in the C's. He lets you redo any assignment to get a better grade but it's very frustrating. His methods of student centric teaching really get annoying during the class because for a 2 hour class it is not applicable. We spend more of the time sitting and staring at each other. I wish he would have just lectured. Doesn't warrant a 1 right? Here's the 1. He treats the class as if they were middle schoolers in some of his "rules." For example, if you miss a class, you will be invited in to his office at a non-class time and be read the technical standards of the College of Education. The same paper we already saw when the class started and they force you to sign... So it is very redundant and if nothing more a pathetic attempt at a punishment with a secondary school mentality on how to go about it. He says to think of the class as a job, but the problem is you're paying him to be there, and if you want to miss a class, you miss a class. Not with him, apparently. Miserably boring too. Avoid at all costs. I'm dropping education because of this class. It's all busy work. |
