The readings were great and I learned a lot from them. I didn't find the assignments too difficult. My biggest complaint was the lack of feedback. I would lose a decent amount of points on some major assignments and I wouldn't get much or any feedback. I was really proud of my final paper, but I'm pretty sure I didn't get a single comment on Canvas about my research project. Overall, not a bad class, but the lack of feedback just felt demotivating. |

Dr. Hong is the best professor I have had ever since transferring here to UMD. For this class in particular, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to my classmates and their experiences growing up as an Asian American, and I found it relatively easy to share my experiences, however different they may be, as a Korean adoptee. In addition, she has also been very receptive to my yearning for more information in accordance with how Korean adoptees fit in within the spectrum of Asian American studies. Very chill class overall, very straightforward assignments overall and I think I did a pretty good job with them. She also wrote my letters of recommendation for graduate school! |

I really liked this course. Dr. Hong is really approachable and makes a lot of good points in her lectures. She does kind of just read off the slides at times, but a lot of it is also discussion based. I wouldn't take this class if you're uncomfortable talking to peers or the class as a whole. The assignments are pretty straightforward too, research papers, readings, and a presentation. Lowkey took off points from my assignments that I didn't really understand but as long as you participate in class and follow the assignment guidelines you'll be fine. |

We love Dr. Hong! She always made the class about discussion and really talking about our experiences. I felt like I learned so much and felt like I really made strong connections as this class was super therapeutic to take as an asian american. She is very knowledgeable as well! In terms of grading, it was pretty easy - all you have to do is make sure you do the readings |

Dr. Hong is an amazing lecturer! The workload is very light (you have to leave a comment on the readings + 2 papers) and she is super flexible about deadlines. The class is extremely interesting and covers a wide range of topics through a CRT framework. Definitely a discussion based class though! |
