This class is very easy if you take a little bit of time to study for each exam and show up to class. His class is extremely boring though. He's kind of all over the place when he lectures and could simplify a lot. The TA does not take attendance at discussions so I wouldn't recommend going. |

Ishfaaq is a good professor and is very knowledgeable about statistics. He is kind and is willing to help answer any questions that students may have. However, he does not do the best job of explaining topics to the class. I felt like I would be better off teaching myself something than following along in class. He explains things in a way that is more complicated than it needs to be. Sometimes, he would get the example question incorrect during class which would make people more |

Ishfaaq is a great professor! The course consists of lectures twice a week, discussion sections that were super helpful, readings/homework/quizzes through the Acrobatiq software, problem sets through R and RStudio, midterms, and the cumulative final exam. I really enjoyed his lectures and he's great at explaining concepts and walking through problems. He's also super helpful if you have any questions and will take the time to explain until you understand. He also does a review session before each exam that is super helpful. I would definitely recommend doing the exam review and practice exams that he provides. They were great practice and covered the exceptions that we needed to know, and I found the exams to be super easy after using them. Definitely take his class! |

He's honestly an amazing professor, I would definitely recommend taking this class with him! Personally, I didn't think his lectures were dry, he was just always to the point. He would go over anything you asked and was always very helpful. He also thoroughly goes through practice problems, practice exams, and provides a lot of resources. Everything he asks on exams is the content we've covered in class and usually similar to practice problems, so nothing is unexpected. |

He's a really good professor I really enjoyed his lectures. He's very understanding as well. He is pretty fast-paced though but it's efficient. Just show up to the lectures and listen and you will be fine. |

Ishfaaq is a pretty good professor. Granted, I had already taken BC calc in high school going in but, his lectures were pretty good at going over concepts that we needed to know and he would choose good practice questions to apply the concepts to. However, like the previous review, I agree that his lectures are generally pretty dry and to the point. He will also brush over certain things however when prompted, he will go over them. Not to play devil's advocate or anything but MATH 141 is calc 2, therefore the professors usually will have some expectation of what you already know. He curves the final grade based on the average, I had an A- in elms but in testudo, my final grade was an A, just for your reference. |

Ignore the bad review below. Ishfaaq is generally a good professor. I would say the course load isn't too bad. For MATH141 you'll have a 10 question WebAssign worksheet due every Tuesday/Thursday, a one-question quiz every week (that is very very easy especially if your TA is good and goes over the concept right before the quiz like mine did), and then exams after every chapter/group of concepts. You will need to self-study for the exams though, just because the course material itself is just hard. Ishfaaq is a pretty good lecturer. He will set up a concept, write down the theorem for that concept from the textbook, show you a proof for that concept when need be, and then do example problems involving that concept. His lectures and homework also relate very well to what is on the exams. Overall, I'd say he's a good professor. That said, he's also not great. Some lecturers just have that special talent to make lecture engaging, but his lectures are very to the point and cut-and-dry. Not that that's a bad thing, though. That may be why you're looking for. I just feel like he could do more during lectures to explain concepts and sometimes he will skip steps or brush over something that "you should already know how to do". The review below is a little misleading though, it's never THAT bad. When he skips a step or brushes over something, if you just raise your hand and ask for clarification he will 100% do his best to clarify and make sure you understand. He also never makes you feel stupid for asking questions and never answers them condescendingly which I really appreciate. One thing, though, is that he does not curve. Your 4 lowest homework and lowest quiz grade is dropped, but exams are never curved. I've heard that he may possibly curve everyone's final grade by some margin at the end of the semester, but I can't say for sure since I'm writing this review right before my finals. |

Absolutely sucks at teaching, those dated reviews of when he was a TA are pretty much useless at this point since he is now a lecturer. Half his examples and explanations are begin with a problem, then he says "aNd YoU sHoulD kNowW hOw To tHis pARt yOuRseLf" and viola he somehow has an answer. If lectures aren't your speed then I highly recommend him because its going to be a good amount of self studying. |

He's a really great TA! He takes the time to make sure that everyone in our discussion understands the material. Really helpful during office hours. |
