Very chill professor and willing to explore ideas with the class. There's a lot of group projects with random people so that may affect you. She was kind of slow on grading even though there weren't that many assignments but if you put some effort into the class you should be fine (i.e. don't freeload on group projects). Her grading was kind of strict when it came to group presentations but she was very fair on the hot take speech. I think I did okay on that but I got a 50/50 and it seems like mostly everyone else did too.

This professor is quite literally one of the most amazing and nurturing educators I have had the pleasure of being taught by. We as a student body are mostly very used to accomodating to the professor's style and working to make sure they are happy, but with Professor Meg, she is so open minded and progressive to the point where she finds value and acceptance in each student's unique style. I never knew that this class would be my source of engagement, as it provided me a real open and accepting environment. I was never once afraid to raise my hand, as Professor Meg always makes us feel validated for every answer. Because of this lack of fear and confidence I developed, I naturally became a strong part of the classroom, as was everyone else in engagement. I have never seen a Professor so naturally display this level of charisma and passion to her students. It is just what we need. The workload is manageable, and not even boring or displeasing to do. She is also very understanding with extensions and deadlines, and shows kindness to every student. Definetely choose Professor Meg!

Prof Meg is extremely kind and understanding. She would be willing to give extensions if necessary, but email her in advance because she is not great at responding. She loves to get to know her students on a personal level and truly cares about their well-being. She pretends to be a stickler at the beginning of the semester, but that is understandable because she is trying to assert herself. Read the readings before class and participate in class discussion even if it is to ask questions. I would advise taking notes during the class discussions as well because these readings are important for the unit tests. Nothing is too difficult but still put in the work because it will pay off for unit tests and overall grades.

Professor Itoh is one of the kindest, warmest, and compassionate professors I've ever had. She creates a very welcoming, calm class environment that everyone (even shy people like me) feel comfortable participating. Not to mention you get great practice with writing and group work in this class, but nothing is ever demanding. It is a fair, quality class and 10/10 recommend.

Professor Itoh, or Meg, was extremely kind and a warm welcome to my first semester at college. Her classroom setting was very casual, which was a great relief from the large lectures. My class became similar to a large group of friends and we all felt comfortable with one another. Despite the moderately heavy workload and occasional boring topic, I would say my overall experience in COMM200 was relatively positive. My piece of advice, however, is to stay on top of your work and try not to fall behind, as it is easy to get lost. If you don't like group work, I strongly recommend you do NOT take this class, as a substantial amount of the course is centered around this. Otherwise, no harm in signing up!

Meg is a super sweet and fun professor, and I genuinely enjoyed the class and assignments! There were 3 unit projects (a speech, a podcast, and a presentation), a hot take assignment, and a final paper, all of which were graded fairly and strictly, but not easily. The class was a bit of work, but was adequate for a 200-level course, and there are quite a few group projects/activities. The bi-weekly readings were pretty long, but you could get the gist for discussions by skimming, so it wasn't too bad. Meg definitely knows how to engage well with her students and explains everything very thoroughly. I enjoyed how collaborative the class was overall and I loved Meg, but do keep in mind that COMM200 will be more difficult than COMM107.

Probably the nicest teacher I will meet, and it's only my first semester here. She's easy to talk to and the class isn't structured around quizzes, but instead just having open conversation about the readings or the topic at hand. She made me feel comfortable to talk in the classroom, and I don't like talking, which is why I was worried about taking a critical thinking communication course. As a full-time student with responsibilities outside of school I was worried about the workload. All my worries went away. Just take the time to read, or at least skim, the readings she has laid out in the syllabus before class. Be a part of the conversations every now and then because she will be accounting for how active you were with participation and group activities/projects. Speaking of which, we only had two solo speeches, the rest were group projects. There will be quite a few group activities within class, but it's good to talk in smaller groups with students to get an understanding between each other on the topic, it was fun. Ultimately, Professor Itoh is awesome!

Professor Itoh is a really good instructor. She's a student herself but she is incredibly knowledgeable in her area and in how to really engage students. There were a lot of group projects which I am personally not a fan of, but the readings and applications were super clear and well taught. Itoh is really good at communicating (obviously); her lectures were really organized, which was so helpful. COMM230 specifically is very content heavy, and the large assignments require a lot of in depth reading and research. I would not recommend this class for those who strongly dislike reading and conceptual ideas like rhetoric and the like. Overall, I did learn quite a bit from this class, and Professor Itoh is very accommodating and easy to talk to.
