Nice, but takes this class strictly seriously, and seems a bit egocentric. The good thing is all of the daily logs relate back to what we need to write down for the big assignments, but I don't know if other professors also do this.

Takes the Honors introductory course way too seriously. Docks points for stupid shit. Awful class, missed two weeks due to illness, with a doctors note, emailed her, and she wouldn't let me make it up.

I know the class is pointless and I want to cut her some slack, but Dr. Johnson makes this class really irritating. She's weirdly passive-aggressive when interacting with students. Completing assignments for her just consists of creating hollow, pointless walls of text that happens to line up with whatever sociopolitical views or platitudes about community building she was droning on about that day. Lenient grader, though I doubt she reads submissions anyways.

Not too many things to say that the first reviewer hasn't mentioned. Dr. Johnson takes this class way too seriously and makes this "class" a way more annoying experience than it should be. There are worse things I could say, but I will opt to just tell you to try to find a different professor if you want to take this pretty useless class.

Dr. Johnson seems to take a 1 credit course way too seriously, if you are looking for an easy A, just take a different professor. When students are worried about harder/more important classes like Calculus, Chemistry, or Physics they should not have to stress about missing an assignment on "How to write an email" that brings their grade down by an entire letter. I can see that Dr. Johnson wants the best for her students and puts great effort into her job but she needs to have some leniency towards her students, especially in a 1 credit course that students will forget about in about a year. Other than that at least she's great at her job and is passionate about teaching.

The class itself is pretty easy, but I feel like Dr. Johnson tries a lot to make a 1 credit gateway course seem important. She can be very picky with grading and takes off points for minimal mistakes so make sure to try and follow exactly what the rubric says. It can also be easy to forget about the participation assignments, don't forget to do those because the more you miss them the more of an impact it has on your grade than you may think. Besides teaching/grading, she genuinely cares for her students and is a very approachable and sweet person.

Dr. Johnson cares too much about a 1 credit class that could be an email. She can be condescending if you don't do exactly what she wants, the way she wants it. This is not to say that following the rules and assignments is the issue, it's more so the way she facilitates discussion. She makes it appear she wants open opinion however, after a while it is clear that she is looking for one specific answer. While this could be understandable in a class where this is one clear right answer, however Gateway is supposed to encourage free thinking and discussion on many deferent, often personal topics. While this next issue may be no fault of her own, as she may just be following the curriculum she was given, it often appears as she has only just learned a topic that she is lecturing on, nay it seems as if she has just preformed a 5 second simple google search on the topic 10 minutes prior to the class, while also presenting herself as an all-knowing expert. I'm sure she is a lovely person outside of lecture, however she has made this class absolutely insufferable.
