Truly one of the best professors I've had. I took her for a gen Ed requirement and it was the easiest and lowest stress class I've ever taken. She is so understanding, I turned in sooo many things late and ended with a 98. No midterm, no final exam, just a 3 part final project that is super easy and took me literally 30 minutes, u just have to find sources and make an infographic.Pretty much each class consists of her talking about recent events and us finding out if its misinformation. Ur participation grade for each class is putting a discussion of one thing you learned. Although, I will say that it is a very political class and it is clear which way she leans. However its pretty obvious where she stands politically within the first week. So if you don't align with her views to the point where it would make the class difficult or uncomfortable, just drop it. But from my experience she was never discriminatory against those who dont have the same beliefs, allowed opposing views to the convo, and would never pick favorites or grade something poorly bc she doesnt agree |

I personally loved this class and Dr. Jones. She made INST152 a chill class that you don't have to stress about. A lot of the main topics were current politics and her personal beliefs, so if you don't mind that then I'd suggest this class. She tries to make her lectures more discussion-based, which never really worked out cuz only a handful of people actually participated, but that's not on her. I enjoyed this class, even though it wasn't necessarily always based on fact-checking and misinformation. She's always true to her word and doesn't really assign homework or anything. She's also very open to feedback and does a mid-semester survey where she actually implements what people suggest, so that's cool too. Would recommend! |

Talks way too much about politics and talks about her Instagram posts. If you want a class where they only talk about politics then take her. She's a nice person but the class just wasn't for me. |

Class itself is very discussion based, but you don't necesaarily need to be a part of it to get a good grade. Daily 1 sentence take away assignments make up most of the class as well as short essays about "In the News" stories. Very nice woman but has very obvious anti-Republican biases in her teachings. I'm not at all a political person but the class is based around misinformation and she only ever uses examples of misinformation from the Republican Party. Class is still worth taking as an easy gen-ed regardless of your political views. |

I'm taking this class right now and it's a fairly chill class. Not too many assignments, and mostly revolves around current event discussions that tie into technology, with a final project using social media as an advocacy tool. I only gave 4/5 stars since this class is meant to be a discussion based class, and only 4 people out of say 75 actually speak every class, which really dampens the conversation. Just show up to class, participate, and do the assignment and you'll be good. |
