I had no experience with Python for this course, though I did have experience in Java. Prof. Jordan made the transition between languages really easy for me and moving forward with the class went smoothly. I think he's a great lecturer, but you can always ask questions if you're confused. He's very nice and understanding, so I recommend taking him if you can! |

I had experience in Python, so this class was very easy for me. If you have a basic Python background, this class will be very easy for you too! Since I knew what Prof. Jordan was teaching, sometimes I felt like he was not teaching in the best way for students to learn. There were many times when I helped students because he did not explain the material well or clearly. For example, we go over functions in week 4 after making functions for each one of his assignments in the previous weeks. That didn't make a lot of sense to me, and I feel like the students who made it through this class definitely did not get a grasp on Python at all. Even with the teaching issues, there are many resources available, and we had several TAs with office hours throughout the week. I'd recommend doing a Python tutorial concurrently before/while you do this class. If you do that, you'd probably not have to attend lectures since they mainly just go through the slides and are all recorded online. Overall - okay professor, but it will take some work outside of class to actually learn and master the topics! |
