The professor is honestly extremely nice and I love her as a person. I give 2 stars because her class is guided for the left side. If you have any thoughts other than purely liberal, the class is just a headache. You need to talk in class for points, but she guides the class so anyone thinking differently is so wildly uncomfortable. Great professor but it should be renamed to "Only take this if your liberal" Its ironic its about ethics but I should not be debated about my thoughts and she should not let other students interupt me and laugh at my beliefs.

I highly recommend not taking this course with this professor. It is an ethics/morals-based course, and lectures encourage difficult conversations among students. That is entirely normal and, in the field of public policy, even welcomed. However, it is crucial for teachers to create an environment where students respect each other's voices and opinions (as long as they are respectful); I firmly believe Kaiser enables an environment that is not productive and quite harmful. It gets pretty out of hand, and she doesn't do much to mitigate it and rather will hurl her own opinion at the student. I never participate in discussions due to the environment she has set. I am a pretty participative student, but this class genuinely makes me uncomfortable. Not to mention her harsh grading (which others have already commented on).

I do not recommend taking 203 with this professor. Lectures are basically pointless regarding your assignments. Describing her as a harsh grader is an understatement. The grade she gives you is not reflective of the effort or quality of your work, but rather if she likes it or not. Her rubric is vague, but she expects you to follow it very specifically. Expects the whole class understood an assignment if there are a few standout submissions. The worst part of this class are the limited number of assignments. By the end of the first 4 weeks, your grade is likely determined, and if it is not good, it is near impossible to bring up without perfect marks. There is almost no time or leeway given to adjust to her style of grading and what she expects out of you.

Class was very enjoyable (discussion oriented) and there was a very small workload, but it was the most challenging class that I took this semester because she is a harsh grader. However, there is never a time when she takes off points unjustly; she will see mistakes that you do not. If you follow the rubrics and go to office hours, I cannot see how you could get lower than an A-.

The professor's lectures and assignments are reasonable. However, she grades in the least reasonable way possible. You lose .25 points for miniscule mistakes but if you counted .25 points for every miniscule thing you did each assignment would be worth like a million points. It's completely distracting from the content of the class which is actually pretty interesting.

Pretty chill class, most people stare at their laptops doing other work for the 2.5 hour sessions and little is required of you in class time. HOWEVER, the grades on the assignments are not clear. Just like other reviews in here, you will lose points on points for things that make no sense even when you can find no reason you deserve point deduction. Did you included everything on the rubric thoroughly and clearly into your essay? Jokes on you, B- for made up reasons.

Professor Kaiser is a nice professor and makes a real effort to engage students in her class. A sizable portion of the grade is participation, so as long as you show up and participate during discussion time, it’s easy points. However, she is a very tough grader and it can be hard to nail down exactly what she’s looking for in her writing assignments. If you’re willing to meet with her she can help show you what she’s looking for, but if you don’t, your grades might really suffer. I didn’t mind her but could go either way

A extremely harsh grader. Gives no rubric for the papers and will often nit pick to find points to take off on your papers. However, she’s a nice enough lady to help you out as well. A toss up Professor. Could love or hate her depends on the person

This professor is the harshest grader I have had. Nothing is good enough, even if you follow the prompts she will find ways to make you unsuccessful. I highly recommend not taking her course.

Professor Kaiser definitely grades harshly, but she is very consistent. As long as you are careful with grammar and not making sweeping generalizations, it is easy to get an A. Has interesting guest speakers and tests and workload are generally manageable. Readings some weeks are long, but I just chose to only do readings and journals for shorter weeks.

I liked Prof. Kaiser. She seems like a good human being. However, she is way to harsh of a grader for someone who refuses to give a rubric. If she had, I would take her grades in stride. The classes were interesting and she led discussions well. It's just that the TA's and her grade so harshly on the most minor mistakes. It's super frustrating. She's a very accomplished woman and I have much respect for her--it's the grading that gets on my nerves.

Kaiser is an extremely harsh grader and is almost impossible to please. I put in A worthy effort and am now expecting a B. I highly recommend avoiding this course.

This class is kind of frustrating. Grading is pretty arbitrary, points are taken off for very minor flaws. Professor is also a politician, so "leadership" is pretty much exclusively limited to women in politics. Would not recommend.
