Great class for those looking into sports medicine. Dr.Klossner is very approachable and makes class interesting. 3 midterms for the entire class, and they are based on the daily slides that she posts and goes over. Group project that was manageable and interesting. Midterms made my grade drop due to them being so specific and the point system (if you don't choose all that are correct you get a 0 for the whole question). All in all good class, however, do not go by the description on TESTUDO.

She is the best! She told us that she completely changed the course this semester from previous years and it has been great. There are only 3 exams in the entire semester, and that is including the "final" which is just the module 3 exam. You do have a semester long series of projects with the same group and you are grouped by your sport that you are interested in. You have to make infographics about prevention of injuries, make a slideshow about a specific common injury in your sport, and then finish with a 10-15 minute video about your sport. The TA's are helpful and respond pretty quickly. Dr.Klossner is very nice and very approachable and is willing to work with her students. The exams were all very fair and based on the information we learned in class and multiple choice using the lockdown browser. Awesome and interesting class that is a great elective for KNES majors and those interested in sports medicine and athletics.

I really liked this class but I think that the description of it on ELMS is not even close to accurate. Looking back at the class, we only discussed recognizing common injuries and briefly learned about their treatment. I expected the class to be more hands on, but there was very little in person application of what we were learning. The entire semester was based around a group project which was made up of 2 parts. You select a sport you would like to study and then there is a 30+ page written assignment about creating an EAP and a presentation about two common athletic injuries that are common for your group. My group struggled to follow the rubrics and as a result my grade suffered. There are 4 quizzes, each worth 30-45 points, and are taken on the lockdown browser. They weren't especially hard and really helped to pad my grade. I was also a sports medicine intern while I was taking the class and I will say that the class was really helpful. For my sport especially, I saw a lot of the injuries that we talked about.

KNES405 is hard and will absolutely require studying for the 4-5 oral practicals. The practicals are split between the five units based on body section, you draw two random and demonstrate your ability to find origin, insertion, nerve innervation and actions it does as well as a muscle test on a partner in 10 mins. If you're a PA, PT, Nursing or Pre-med major, ect. I would highly recommend this class, but be prepared to memorize a lot! Written exams are online and at home with lockdown. Dr. Plotkins and Dr. Klossner teach this class together and they are both awesome. They really want you to learn and understand the material and can be flexible in ensuring you succeed. You only fail this class if you don't show up or continuously fail to study for OPs. Grading is fair and the TA (shoutout Sammy!) we had this semester really gave his all in ensuring the written papers (one group and one short individual) and exam prep were helpful! As hard as I found it to be at times I really do value this course and how passionate the entire teaching team was. Students claim having Dr. P was easier for the practicals but I believe both professors expressed fairness in grading and flexibility so don't be shy to do an OP with Dr. Klossner.
