Super easy class if you attend the lectures and discussion sections. The class is mainly based on participation in discussion sections, as there are no tests, essays, or finals. The lectures can be a little long and boring but attendance is mandatory; there's a check-in code everyday. I sometimes took notes so I would pay more attention, but they weren't used on any assignments. The only assignments we had were two newspaper comparisons and a beginning, mid-year, and final reflection based on how you feel that you are doing in this class, so super easy! Would recommend this class for an easy A. |

It would honestly be hard to not get an A. Thats probably why he has such good reviews, its an easy class. The assignments are so simple and there is no tests. He doesn't even give grades its just based on your "effort," but don't take that too seriously. If you care, it might be annoying to not know your grade as he doesn't give you one until the end. Though, you should expect an A if you go to class and turn in the few and simple assignments. Attendance is graded despite UMD saying that is not permitted. 3 stars because he thinks he has the best teaching method but its actually quite boring and not interactive. Maybe its because everyone knows they do not need to in order to do well, but no one pays attention. People come to class since its graded but will do anything other than pay attention. As a person he is a very nice guy and if you ask him questions or like the subject it can be interesting. As a professor he just doesn't teach that well but he will make it easy. I think one of the most important parts of education is making it engaging. He is very knowledgeable there is no doubt about that, but he does not grab your attention in the slightest. |

Great professor, really nice and genuinely cares about his students success. Highly suggest if you want to go to law school or are interested in law. |

He's lenient with grades but he's overrated. He pushes this view on you and asks you questions while only wanting an answer he agrees with. Nevertheless, it was an interesting course that was well taught, I just wish he could leave his own views out of it. |

Mr. Kobren is one of my favrite professors! His non-grading struture for this course really provokes free speech and learning without any concern about grades. Once he notices your growth in the class, he would give you an A. And I think this is what a true pre-law professor should do. |
