The entire class is basically refining a startup topic related to architecture. First few weeks is brainstorming and narrowing down ideas, and then it moves heavily into creating a business model canvas, which can get confusing if you lose track of class. Tuesday classes are usually presentation and Thursday is lecture. Since it's two days, it makes it shorter and more bearable, but it still gets pretty boring and very difficult to understand assignment directions since they are vague. Grading is very delayed so don't rely on numeric feedback, only verbal comments.

This class was interesting. It ran pretty long and the whole time, at least for the AI course. The first 5-6ish weeks were mostly case study projects where we researched and found examples of sustainable buildings and their systems, and most of class time was listening to other people present and his feedback. After that, it got very heavy into AI design development. Usually he would give you an image or you pick a site, and you have to use AI tools to edit and generate the designs he mentions. Classes for this were usually workshops where he would give you a prompt and you share the iterations in class or process presentations. It's basically a short, condensed studio class on AI architectural design. If you're passionate about the topic and willing to learn and listen, it's a good class, but it can be long, repetitive, and difficult to understand assignment briefs at times. He graded the first items almost after midterms and it was hard to appeal because it was so long ago, but most people get B+ to A-.

This review is for ARCH468I, which doesn't exist yet for some reason. There is so much work. Do not take this class if you are currently in studio, you will have a hard time balancing the two. He did let us redo assignments a lot so we could get a better grade, but to me, that just proves that there wasn't adequate time or instruction to complete them in the first place. Hooman seems like a nice guy, and I wanted to like this class because I enjoy the subject matter, but over time, my enthusiasm was worn down by the sheer amount of work and quality expected each week. He expects you to spend around 5+ hours on each assignment to get a good grade, and I just did not have time for all that. He also put in grades extremely late, like a few days before the W deadline, which is honestly unacceptable. I knew someone who didn't even know they were failing until halfway through the semester, which is absurd.

Excessive amount of work for this class. Especially for an elective, he expects a lot of work to be completed every week and if it doesn't meet his expectations he'll make you redo the assignments. So you're stuck with last week's work on top of the current week's assignment. He also doesn't give clear directions for what's expected. Try avoid taking it if you're in studio, this class is similar to studio with roughly 3-6 drawings due each week. It adds up if you're taking studio.
