Because of the asynchronous nature of the course, the video lectures become very important for projects and homework assignments. However, sometimes there are gaps between lecture and assignments, leading to googling different coding aspects and topics to fully understand how to do the assignments. I will say, i didn’t find the projects very difficult because of the help you can get from the TAs and the actual coding not being difficult. |

This professor is great at what she does, she is very knowledgeable and will help you whenever you need it! Earlier in the semester, the assignments were a lot easier to follow and the short videos she made helped a lot when doing the assignments. I will say that you have to take initiative in googling things as it IS an async course, you literally signed up to be online and basically pace your own learning. She is very lenient about due dates which can be some students' downfalls if they don't keep up with the assignments due each week. There are no exams, there are coding assignments each week, and 3 projects which you should ace if you come to office hours. I must emphasize GO TO THE PROFESSORS OFFICE HOURS!!!!! The projects can be challenging and intimidating when you first read them. THERE IS NO REASON TO LOSE POINTS ON PROJECTS SHE WILL LITERALLY TELL YOU WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR CODE AND HELP YOU FIX IT. I didn't go to TA office hours that much because it seemed like one of the TAs wasn't really clear about what he was doing. But the other TA, Rony, will actually tell you what's wrong with the code and fix it, however, he does have some inconvenient times so it might be hard to make it there. Overall an easy class if you utilize the resources given, actually watch the short lecture videos, and GO TO OFFICE HOURS FOR PROJECTS!!! Take her if you have the chance. |

Informative videos, fair work for an asynchronous class. |

so i took this course asynchronous and i did not learn a damn thing. she literally has 5 minute videos and goes over the easiest examples and then when you get to the assignments and the projects, its like 10 times harder. i don't get how she expects us to learn how to code when 1. your videos are 5-10 min long from 2020, 2. tas office hours are so inconvenient, 3. you make the projects nearly impossible to do. the only good thing about this class is that the deadlines are very lenient. she's a nice person but the class is structured awfully. |

Idk what the person below is bashing the professor for. I barely interacted with her, however, I believe Professor Carrie is genuinely is the type of instructor we need. Her class is asynchronous, so the lessons are video lectures (they are from 2020 so not recent, which would probably be my only thing I wish she'd change so it's more recent). However, I think they cover what is needed to be known and I am having a good amount of fun. Something that I admire a lot is her late policy which is the most lenient one I've seen. As there are assignments due each Sunday, there's a good amount of stuff to do considering I have other classes, so I haven't turned in things on time. That being said, the way the class is set up is that there are two main deadlines with one being in the first half of the semester and one being in the last week of the semester, and we can turn in assignments before that main deadline without getting points docked. In addition, we get to redo assignments for full credit until that main deadline comes. You are set up to get an A in this class. |

The class is easy. She teaches nothing. You will not learn python unless you self teach yourself. Her videos are 5 minutes long and do not relate to the assignments at all. |

Professor Lindeman is a great person that wants to make beginner programming an ease. The online format of her class does require personal initiative to go and watch the videos she posts or attend the online class. Her extensions on assignments (not big projects) are generous. Professor Lindeman's office hours are very helpful in understanding the code and what the assignment is asking. Something problematic about the class is the availability of her office hours being only twice a week and the TA's office hours sometimes having an unreliable schedule. But if you come to the class and ask questions/learn there, then this shouldn't be an issue. Another negative part of this class is the inclusion of "stack traces" in each coding assignment. These stack traces were maps of all the data points in a program. the rules surrounding these stack traces took a while to pick up on and the the stack traces could be very tedious to complete. A guide on how to do them in various instances would have been helpful. Overall a great professor that i benefited a lot from and would recommend. |

Professor Linderman did a great job on explaining python to people that are new to programming. If you have no prior experience to programming, this is the teacher for you, being someone that already knew a great amount of python before taking the class I found the lectures to be quite useless but they are packed with good content for those that are new to the language. She brings in ways that would allow for the students to learn better, it would be a 4.5/5 if I could solely due to having late responses when emailing her, and her grading was quite harsh. |

Professor Lindeman was really fantastic! She explains Python and coding in an approachable way, so if you don't have coding experience it's still easy to understand and learn. Her office hours are really helpful, and we often review material in class and do classwork to practice. The class is structured this way: introducing a new concept through recorded lecture and a quiz, then the next lecture will review that material and we will do problems/exercises with small groups to practice it, then she'll go over the problems and the answers. Then we'll have an assignment that's usually writing a program involving what we learned in class. The class was online, and lectures were recorded. Additionally, Professor Lindeman allows us to submit/re-submit assignments and quizzes multiple times to be re-graded, which was really helpful and motivated me to practice the material more or wait to submit when I better understood the concept. As a result, this class was not stressful for me since I knew that I could always improve upon my previous work. The only things we can't resubmit/submit late are the 3 projects. The project details are given ahead of time, and Professor Lindeman will help look over our projects and debug things so it's not too bad either. Overall, I enjoy Professor Lindeman's approach to teaching and enjoy her class a lot! |
