Prof. Linn is a really knowledgeable guy, and I found the class really interesting. Sometimes the 75-minute lectures get a little long, but you do learn some interesting things about the markets that fuel our world. Linn is also a good lecturer so it's not too hard to stay engaged. For the work side of the class, you have maybe five homeworks due in class so do them ahead of time, but they're never that bad. The midterms are either long or short-answer questions, so as long as you know the topic, you can kinda yap your way to an A. Big plus is that the final was OPTIONAL if you like your grade and, even if you do take it, the final can't lower your grade.

He’s very sweet and obviously cares about the course and class participation. His grading Scale is very very confusing and what is expected for exams is also confusing. I found this class difficult and irritating, I did not need this class I took it as a gen ed and I realized too late that I would not be able to pick up my grade and I couldn’t drop the course. There are like 5 homework’s and 1 midterm, the grading is confusing and not clear, and there is little room to pick up your grade in this class. I wish his notes were clearer and followed the book better. His TA was also not helpful with the content. Take this course if you really need it. I am only giving it a 3/5 bc he’s very nice and passionate.

Lectures (or really the content itself) are quite dull to be honest, and a lot of people do not show up to class. Despite that, he seems like a pretty nice guy. There are homework assignments every 2/3 weeks that must be turned in at the beginning of class on paper. They are not super hard and neither was the midterm. There is a second midterm right before the end of the semester and then an optional final (take if you want/need to improve your grade). The one thing about this class is that I think the name is a little misleading. It focuses heavily on electricity & energy markets, not much about actual environmental stuff, but I guess that is because there is another class for that. We do learn about needing to consider pollution as an externality and a couple of environmental disasters that were related to energy companies, though. I would give a 3.5/5 if that was an option, it's not a bad class at all.

Nice professor. Lectures are not very engaging but content isn't hard, you have to be interested in order to really pay attention and absorb the information. Grading can also be confusing to decipher. Very little actual assignments and opportunities to raise your overall grade. Exams are weighted 35% and 45%. Also lack of study materials and resources so you will have to go to class and actively take notes if you want to do well. Probably wouldn't take again but would recommend to people actually interested in this topic.

Joshua is a very nice professor, he cares about his students and explains things well. This class is really useful and enjoyable if you find the subject interesting. The materials are not hard, but you need to go to his classes and focus to fully understand the implications of the materials he provided in his slides. Exams are fair, you'll get a good grade if you are familiar with the materials and finish all the assignments.
