MLSC250 Expecting a B+ Anonymous 12/07/2023 |
This course is a very interesting course to learn from, sometimes difficult and confusing to understand, but overall things are manageable. I like this professor, she is approachable and is very nice and is willing to answer questions. She seems like she understands and knows what she is doing with teaching the class and her lectures are easy to read and digest from. She assigns readings, videos, and reading quizzes and also a lot of discussion preparation assignments which are interesting to work on. This class really makes you dive deeper into the topic instead of thinking one way, which can be challenging if you don't have a full understanding about the content that is given. I also enjoy the class discussions we have because she asks interesting questions that can provide unique responses and luckily the people in my class are talkative and can lighten the mood. If you take notes, show up to class, do the assignments, and ask for help, then you should pass in this course. Currently I have a B so the coursework is manageable, so no complaints. |

I thought this class would not be to hard because of the name LOL Thats not funny. It is a bit of a harder class and she is a slightly tough grader however she is really nice. Overall I would reccoment this class. |

Since it's an intro class, this class isn't particularly difficult as long as you put some effort in. If you take the time to prepare for each exam, you'll do perfectly fine, and if you ever need the grade boost, she offers a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Her slides are comprehensive and she also has several other resources provided to further help with studying and homework assignments. If you want a higher grade in this class, you'll have to attend lecture, since she has surprise participation assignments that are worth 10% of your grade; there aren't very many of them so missing even one can have an impact. She is a bit awkward at times, though I can't entirely fault her since the students didn't have much energy and only a handful of people participated. In office hours, she's quite helpful and kind, and she explains concepts well, whether they've been covered in class or not. If you aren't interested in linguistics you probably won't enjoy this class, but if you are, she's a solid professor to take. |

The course wasn't exactly what I expected but it was still a fun topic. She assigns weekly homework but they don't take a long time. Discussion sections were sometimes awkward, but that had more to do with people not participating. I would take this class again. |

Nice person but not a great professor. MLSC250 sounded like an easy gen ed and an interesting class with a title like “LOL that’s not funny” but I was so wrong. We had weekly homework assignments and quizzes that made up the majority of our grade. Lord would grade the homework on correctness, but the content was opinion based or an example from our lives 95% of the time. She would take off points for the most ridiculous stuff which really impacts your grade, considering it’s almost fully made up of the homework. There was a surprise participation grade at the end of the semester as well that brought my grade down even though i went to every single class. She calls on people randomly like it’s a high school class. Would not recommend. |
