Rashi is a great instructor. She is very laidback and checked in with us often about how we were doing with assignments and readings. The readings are not demanding at all, but they can be emotionally intense. There were times when Rashi would ask us if we wanted to scrap a text or an assignment because it would've been too much, which was nice. I really liked the discussions we had as well. Rashi introduced a lot of interesting concepts to us in our discussions and it felt like she genuinely wanted us to engage with the content over worrying about our grades. I would definitely recommend a course with her! |

I definitely recommend this course for an easy gen-ed class. I am a biology major, so this is completely new territory for me, but I honestly really enjoyed thinking deeply about graphic novels. We read about 8 comics throughout the semester and watched a couple of movies and spent most of the class discussing the meaning behind certain plot points. It was much easier to read these graphic novels than regular books because of the graphic form. She even brought popcorn to class for us during the movie! The only assignments we had were comic journals where we would respond to a prompt by creating our own comic every two weeks (which would take me about an hour to complete), and a midterm and final paper, which were 6-8 pages. For the final, she allowed an alternative option to visit a museum and write a 1-2 page comic about the experience, which I happily jumped on because I am not the best writer. I loved Rashi; she is very engaging and real, and does everything she can to accommodate us and acknowledges that we all have other classes and responsibilities on top of this one. She is very generous with extensions, as she cares more about the quality of our assignments than the timeliness, as long as they get done. She also does not mind if people do not read as much as they are supposed to and proceeds accordingly. Overall, this is a very easy and interesting class, and I would take it again. |

I enjoyed the leniency and the somewhat informal class setting. When I approached the class as time ticked down, I didn't feel the normal sense of dread and futility I typically feel when I'm walking to a class. I enjoyed the discussions and time I got to talk about the course material. The assignments were also very enjoyable, I actually felt like I was getting something done rather than simply doing busy work. Overall great teacher |

Professor Masheswari is an outstanding professor. She deeply cares about her students learning and offers a lot of flexibility and understanding for student schedules. This class is very engaging, you learn a lot in class which minimizes the amount of work you have to do outside. She is genuinely passionate about her discipline which makes me want to learn more. This class is like a very informative book club with very insightful conversations. Would highly recommend taking this course! |

Professor Maheshwari is a great professor. She is very kind and understanding, and is very knowledgable and passionate about the stuff she teaches. The class is very discussion based, which actually is very fun because of the interesting questions we are asked. I would definitely recommend her class CMLT 270, it's fun and educational, and honestly the readings are not bad at all. There is a lot to read, but if you have any interest in comics or reading in general you should be good. |

Good professor. Flexible with deadlines and extensions. Take this class if you need the gen-ed credit or if you have a passing interest in the content. Class is chill and I'd recommend taking her for a class. Grading is lenient and you will have a lot of time to do assignments, even without the extensions |

I had attended roughly half the classes this semester but the professor was very lenient and understanding with my situation. The books weren't the most interesting to me, but the assignments were easy and often fun (sketching comics). |

A little late to the review but she is a very lenient professor. I struggled with many of my other classes and when I told her about not being able to turn in essays and assignments on time, she was very understanding and gave me significant time to catch up on the assignments. She would check in with us every now and then to see how we were doing and our progress in the class which I believe was very kind of her. She laid out all of the assignments we were going to be completing throughout the course which gave us time to consider topics for our essays. I would definitely recommend you to take her. |

The only negative about this class is that it was at 9:30. She's flexible with deadlines for papers and projects. Overall I'd highly recommend taking a class with this professor as she genuinely cares about helping you improve and express yourself in your writing. This feels less like a boring gen-ed and there were many days where I got out of bed knowing I could've skipped lecture just out of respect. Overall this was my best class this semester, I'd 100% take a class with her again in the future. |
