Took him during the Spring 2023 semester as a gen-ed (also because I thought this would be an interesting class to take) and I have NO REGRETS. If he taught more courses (that I, a CS major, could take) I would definitely take it. Dr. Martinez makes this course super fun and the coursework is honestly very light (I would often finish any assignment during class). Quizzes are very easy as they are based on the readings, and the class has NO midterms, just a final presentation. This class is by far one of my favorites, I learned a lot and was genuinely interested in all the topics covered in class. Not only this class is interesting and fun, the class is very engaging and thought-provoking. I could tell Dr. Martinez is passionate about what he is teaching, and it honestly makes this class more enjoyable. I HIGHLY recommend taking this course WITH Dr. Martinez. If you are here for an easy A, you will not only be left with an A+, but you will 100000% have a happy and satisfied learning experience.

I took this class on a whim, but I am really glad I did. Professor Martinez made the class really enjoyable and by the end it became my favorite class of the semester. The discussions are really engaging and Professor Martinez does his best to make it fun. The class itself is discussion based, but there are quizzes almost every class. So don't skip, but also why would you want to! Take this class if you want a really easy and interesting Gen Ed. Martinez is definitely the way to go

I thoroughly enjoyed taking PSYC341 with Dr. Martinez! Lectures were engaging and useful, and he seemed very enthusiastic about the subject which enhanced my learning experience. The readings aren't that bad, and they do help with learning the content & quizzes. But as long as you attend lectures and pay attention and review materials, you should do fine! The papers were not difficult, and many of the quizzes got dropped so I ended with most of them being a 10/10. Would really recommend!

Great professor with great lectures. Important to attend classes and take notes. There are quite a bit of readings but they help for the quizzes. As long as you do your work and review material the class is great! I definitely recommend PSYC341 with him!

Great professor that loves he content he teaches and makes classes interesting. No need to worry about grades as almost everything is pretty straightforward, and you'll most definitely get an A as long as you do your work. Very fun class with interesting topics.

Dr. Martinez was a fantastic professor. His lectures in general were very engaging and easy to follow. As long as you show up to class you'll learn a good chunk of the material. The exams and quizzes are pretty straightforward and there's not any trick questions (Exams consist of anywhere between 40-50 MC & 3 FRQ, but you only have to answer 2). You do have to do the readings, but as long as you use his study guide with the terms and pull the info from both his powerpoints and the readings you can definitely do great on the test (I never scored below an A on any of the exams-including the final-doing this). He drops 4 of the lowest quiz grades, and the papers are very easy with clear instructions, just follow his rubric and the example paper he gives with each paper and you'll get a high score + the longest paper is 3 pages double spaced so definitely low stress. Overall he was a great professor that makes it pretty easy for you to get a good grade in the class and I would take him again!

Professor Martinez is super nice & sweet! However, the reasons why I am giving him 3 stars out 5 is because of the way he structured the class. One pro about the class was that the papers are very easy you have 3 to do for the whole semester. Another pro is that he drops 4 of your lowest quiz grades so you have some leeway to miss class just in case you are sick/don't feel like going. One con about his class is that all the quizzes and exams are in person, closed note, and very difficult. You really have to read all the readings and make sure you take good notes. The final exam is cumulative so be ready for that! Second con is that his lecture slides are not helpful at all. They consist of bullet points that he just reads off of without adding to them and not putting definitions of the concepts on the slides, so when you try and go back to study they are not helpful since you are just looking at words. His lectures can be a bit boring and not engaging at all which is why a lot of people would leave in the middle of class. Third con, he does not release the quiz/exam answers to see what you got wrong which is not helpful because we want to be able to look back on them and see how we can study better and get an explanation of why an answer was right. Overall, the class wasn't too bad but can use a lot of improvements.

One of my favorite classes, He genuinely seems interested in teachings and always made the lectures engaging I ended up learning the content really well and he was really flexible grades wise. There are daily quizzes which he often drops at least 1 or 2 questions from and a discussion with discussion question each day of class but if you put at least a little thought into them you should be fine.

Amazing professor, really enjoyed his class and was genuinely interesting. You can't miss class (due to quizzes/discussions) but you won't want to. The grading was very fair, and no busywork, assignments were genuinely useful.

Fantastic professor! He taught the material in a fun and interesting way, and he guided the discussions well. He was an extremely easy grader and if you do the assignments, you will get a good grade.
